Magic Lose In A Heart-Breaker

The Orlando Magic lost against the Phoenix Suns 108-106.

" It hurts. It just hurts to lose like that."- Steve Francis

The first quarer started off in a 9-0 run by the Magic led by Steve Francis who caught fire! Soon after, Steve Nash makes a lay-up and the score was 12-2 (10 of those points by Steve Francis). Stevie Franchise finished the quarter with 10 points. Score at the end of quarter 1 was 25-18 Magic.

The second quarter was a nightmare :x Turnover after turnover after turnover after turnover. Nash and Marion took over the quarter but it wasnt enough since 8 points by Steve Francis and 6 by Dwight Howard finished the half, 48-47 Magic.

The third quarter was a 2nd quarter deja vu. TOs took over our offensive game. Steve Nash was a MONSTER in the third scoring 18 points in the third! Marion was raining jumpshots from everywhere and we looked hopeless. But efforts from "Flip" Murray and by Dwight Howard helped us keep the game close. At the end of the third, the score was 78-74 Suns.

The fourth quarter was very high-tempo and both teams looked to be neck to neck. Nash was still on fire making shots, getting to the line and playing good defense on Steve Francis (Francis scored 18 points in the 1st half but only 6 in the second) In the finals minute, both teams were driving to the basket trying to get to the free-throw line. With 18 seconds left, Suns ball and the score tied at 106, Nash gets the inbounds. He passes it to Q-Rich who wastes time and with 2 seconds left throws it to nash who makes the shot from the left wing just inside the three point line!! I was shocked by what happened. I quickly took a time-out...With 1.2 seconds left, Pat Garrity( who made 3 buzzer-beaters for me last season) comes in for the first time in the game. Flip Murray throws the inbounds pass to Pat Garrity who spots up for 3 and......NO GOOD! Suns win 108-106...

Dwight Howard had a great game with a career-high 31 points.

" We had an incredible game. Team effort, making open shots, playing defense. We did it."- Steve Nash

" Heart-breaking loss, man. I mean, the first quarter was great for us. We just didnt finish it off."- Ronald "Flip" Murray

good luck against the blazers, howard will have to be on top form to compete against Ratliff, Randolf and Rahim, but Francis will dominate the blazers backcourt.

The first quarter started with a 14-5 run by the Blazers. Hedo Turkoglu got injured last game and could not participate in this one. He was listed day-to-day. Pat Garrity started in his place and it was worth it. He was on fire in the first scoring 11 points (4/6FG, 3/3 3pt)

At the start of the second quarter, Pat Garrity hits another 3!! But Blazers catch up with a run led by Derek Anderson. Dwight Howard had a great half scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. At the end of the first half the score was 56-55 Magic.

The third quarter was similar to the the second. Both teams making shots and making defensive stops. Efforts by Dwight Howard, Flip Murray and Robert Horry kept us in the lead. Score at the end of the third was 79-77 Magic.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Steve Francis got in a scoring run making 3 straight shots. Then, Pat "Mr.NoPressure" Garrity makes his 5th three of the game (5/5 3pt). After that, BigShotRob makes his first three of the game putting the score 93-88 Magic with 3:33 left in the game. The Blazers came back to tie the game with a run led by Derek Anderson and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. The score was 100-100 with 1:21 left in the game. With 12 seconds left, Dwight Howard makes a lay-up and the foul!! He makes the free-throw. Damon Stoudamire gets the ball, without any time-outs, he dribbles up the court and shoots a 3 that misses off the side of the rim!! Magic win 109-106.

"It was a team effort. We got the job done against a very strong Portland team."- Robert Horry
