Great!! I love my job!! I would present myself later on (Y)

Tue Aug 02, 2005 4:10 pm

EDIT: Will the story be here or a diffrent story? And will we get the new rookies?

I think we should just keep it here. If that's gonna be a problem, then I won't. Just let me know.

And it will be the March rosters, so no new rookies. Managers can msg me if they want a list of free agents at a certain position (right now we have a 14 man roster which i shall present in the next couple of days). I am very excited for this. But I can't play my first game really until the GM and head coach press releases. More so for the head coach as then I won't know how I'm supposed to play (starting line-up and sub pattern, who am I to run through, minute distribution, fast/slow tempo, etc.) Can't wait to see the press releases from the staff!

Toronto Raptors News Conference

The Toronto Raptors welcome new Assistant Coach Emiliano Rebon.

Press Conference

Emiliano: I am excited to be here with this great organization. I really hope that me and the staff can help the team and make them playoff contenders. I am open to all questions...

Reporter: Hello Emiliano, what is the team's goal for the upcoming year?

Emiliano: Well, I haven't talked with the staff yet so I can't answer that right now. One thing for sure, we will definetly make sure that we can put together the right team.

Reporter: Hey Emiliano, reporting from ESPN, what do you think about the staff and about new coach mkballer?

Emiliano: Once again, I haven't met the staff but I hope me, mkballer and sensation can make things happen on the court for the best.

Reporter: Emiliano, last question, how come you chose to sign with the Toronto Raptors when other teams were offering you a position as well?

Emiliano: I just felt that this is the right team. We can really do something here and I'm glad to be able to be part of something great to come.

Thank you for everything Emiliano Rebon, we wish you and the team good luck for the upcoming season.

Toronto Raptors News Conference

The Toronto Raptors welcome new Head Coach Ben Warren, also known as mkballer.

Press Conference

mkballer: Before this press conference begins, I would firstly like to thank the Toronto Raptors organisation for giving me this fantastic opportunity to prove myself as an NBA standard head coach.

Reporter: Mr Warren what makes you think you will be up to your duties as head coach?

mkballer: Firstly I have a lot of knowledge about the players, evaluating what a players strengths and weaknesses are, and executing different plays on court to suit each player and the team.

Reporter: Mr Warren question for you, what can the Raptors realisticly achieve this season?

mkballer: I am confident that we will be able to challenge for a playoff berth. I have faith in the staff around me and my fellow coaches Emiliano and Sensation will both do a solid job taking Raptors to the top.

Reporter: Do you think Toronto was the right place to come considering other teams were offering for your services?

mkballer: I think Toronto is the right place for me as they have ambitions to become the best, they have a young organisation and as I'm a young coach I am confident I will fit in well. Thanks for your time everybody.

A few notes on gameplay:
 Superstar
 nba-live.com's realistic sliders
 12 minute quarters sim
 8-10 minute quarters played (I want 8, but I'm sure everyone else wants the longer time/the most realistic for scores, so perhaps we'll compromise on 9)
 Rosters current as of March 18, 2005
 29 Game Season
 Playoffs 7-7-7-7
 I will play all games

Player intros will be done today. It will give the coach the ability to pick a starting roster and design a game plan. The GM then can look at how it can be deconstructed. There will be room for 1 free agent to be signed.

Verg good idea (Y)

Wed Aug 03, 2005 1:33 am

can i be ASSISTANT GM?

nba balla, thanks for the interest. In truth, we got enough assistant GMs at the moment, but we could use another assistant coach if you are interested in that. Lemme know.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 1:38 am

Yes I got GM.......I'll do the news confrence later....i'm busy at the moment

Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:20 am

Good luck you all!!!

Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:24 am

Great. Assistant coach is good for me, since I'm going to be quite busy. Congrats, mkballer. (Y)

I figured you'd be busy - I truly did flip flop for primary assistant, but I figured that your initial desire for the sidelines might have proved to be problematic. This way you are still involved, but not required to be overly involved.

Emiliano, you are an excellent, excellent dynasty guy - so please do not feel as though you got this because of the above. I'm trying to be diplomatic - but as usual, failing miserably...In short, Emiliano and Sensation kick ass.

And I forgot about Valin, as the draft consultant...my bad... . Yes, allow me also to introduce Valin as our draft consultant. He'll have some say in the draft selection process.

Toronto Raptors News Conference

The Raptors introduce Matin Haso as new Primary Assistant Manager

Matin: First of I just want to thank Aaron and the Raptors for this oppurtunity, noe I'll answer any questions you might have for me.

Reporter: What did you expect when you took this job?

Matin: I saw a great oppurtunity to help build a struggling franchise into a winner. And also a chance to work with such an experienced and qualified staff.

Reporter: What do you think you and the GM can accomplish together?

Matin: I'm hoping for a great cooperation between myself and {SAC-1} to avhieve a level of quality that can help Toronto get in the hunt for an NBA Championship as fast as possible. Of course the final decisions lie with the GM, but I hope to be able to influence him in some ways as I know we can create something special.

Thank you for your time, I hope Toronto will have much success in the next couple of years.

Thank you very much Martin. I figured I'd just move your press release to this thread as opposed to having it hang in subspace.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 3:48 am

Everything looks good so far. To bad no new rookies though :( . Would love to see your project be turning Charlie Villanueva into a smart draft choice.

.LA. - if this doesn't get off the ground before a patch comes out with the offseason moves, I might just use that one. But I'd hate to play with Donny Marshall on my team when I know hes onthe Cavs. It just screws things around a little and I'd rather not do that. So that's why no new rookies. But trust me, I'd love to give Joey Graham a whirl (in a non-sexual way).

Wed Aug 03, 2005 4:57 am

Alright! Its looking great! cant wait to see more press conferences (Y)

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:08 am

Hey guys... Since we work together now... I just wanna explain something, my name is Matin not Martin... just thought I'd clear that up, and joeygraham, I could use the Free Agent list, just to start tracking for a swipe early...
I'll talk to {SAC-1} and we'll see what we can come up with :)

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:29 am

Oh god I'm terribly sorry Matin. I should have realized...I don't know how popular a name Martin is up in Nordic lands...then again, I don't know about Matin either, but rest assured, it won't happen from me again. For the free agent list, I can pull that up for you, but perhaps you can narrow it down to a couple of positions for me / up to a certain number ranking (say 48 or something like that) or by a certain characteristic (i.e. top 20 rebounders). But I need to be at my laptop to pull up that list and right now I am at work. But I will certainly send you something.

I am also hoping our coach will give me a very crude mock up of the depth chart and starting line-up and bench order so I can start playing and we can tweak after that. Also please tell me how you want to run the offense and defense. Tweaking can be done on the fly. I'd like to start playing. And for the record, we have one hell of a 3 pointer squad. I played an exhibition game against the 76ers and hit so many three pointers. So, that's just another thing to bare in mind. Thank you.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:36 am

Actually my name is kurdish
Dad's not a swede :)
So it's alright, happens all the time :P

As for the FA's, I want to look into young big-men and playmakers, I feel there's a glitch there, like Skip is good, but there's no real backup for him, and as for the frountcourt, disaster if I may say so
We can't have Donny and Chris rotating with the likes of Bonner, Woods and Arujo, I feel changes needs to be made, I just hope {SAC-1} is on the same page as me... :P

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:38 am

And Martin is actually very popular here :P
Always has been I figure :)
Since it's from our settlers...

Sorry, don't mean to go off-topic :P

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:42 am

I'm interested, don't worry. We need the distractions from the tough decision making! I agree...but I'm also hoping (and here's why I don't want anything to do with GMing, I'm already looking at next year) that Donny Marshall will be let loose as in real life. But I'm loving playing with him. In the exhibition game he had 10 points and 5 rebounds (3 offensive).

And as in my other dynasty, I'm alway a fan of former Raptor Lonny Baxter in the free agent pool!!

Do you want me to post the list or just PM you?

PM to me would be great man :)
Yeah, I would like to see big changes in the offseason, and wouldn't mind some changes early on either, but then again, it's not up to me, {SAC-1} will have the last say, so I can only hope we think alike and can cooperate after that.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 5:46 am

Yeah, an ex.Wizard as he is, I like Lonny alot too...
