Bobcats Dynasty Fantasy Draft 2-0 (next up Bucks)

Postby mkballer on Tue Aug 02, 2005 2:28 am

Ok this is my first dynasty that I have posted, so please be kind  . I only have Live 05 for PS2 so sorry folks no pics or rookies. This dynasty did include a fantasy draft so that adds a new twist to the game. As I chose the Charlotte Bobcats I was given the number 3 pick in the fantasy draft. Also I apologize for the lameness of my dynasty compared to other peoples.

Oh and before I forget......

Level- Superstar

Minutes- 12 Minute Quarters, 12 Min Sim Quarters

All games are simmed.

Wish me luck!

Roster

Starting 5

C - Dale Davis
PF - Amare Stoudemire
SF - Joe Johnson
SG - Kobe Bryant
PG - Chauncey Billups

Bench

PF - Kenny Thomas
SG - Andre Igoudala
PG - Damon Jones
SF - Josh Smith
SG - Dajuan Wagner
C - David Harrison
PF - Anderson Varejao

1st Round Pick Kobe Bryant
Drafted Number 3
Image
Kobe will bring his undoubted talent to the new franchise Bobcats. He can score, defend and do pretty much everything else as well. Will be the franchise face for the team and the go to guy.

2nd Round Pick Amare Stoudemire
Drafted Number 33
Image
The Bobcats were surprised to see Amare slip to 33, but were more than happy to pick him. He has youth and talent in bundles, and his strength and size will cause many in the league a lot of problems. He will be leading rebounder no doubt.

3rd Round Pick Chauncey Billups
Drafted Number 63
Image
One of the best all-round point guards in the game, Billups brings with him a sweet shot, excellent defensive skills and a basketball brain to match the best of them.

4th Round Pick Joe Johnson
Drafted Number 93
Image
Joe Johnson brings to the Cats one of the sweetest shots in the game, youth and can alternate between SG and SF which will be very helpful to the team. He can also rebound and dish the rock as well.

5th Round Pick Dale Davis
Drafted Number 123
Image
Bobcats needed a center, and decided on drafting Dale Davis. Dale brings over 11 years of experience, on his day can be a rebounding demon and is also a good shot blocker. A nice addition to the team.

6th Round Pick Kenny Thomas
Drafted Number 153
Image
Kenny was one of only a handful of players to average a double double a few seasons ago. He brings to Charlotte rebounding, blocking and a nice mid-range jumper. Will be 6th man for Bobcats.

7th Round Pick Andre Igoudala
Drafted Number 183
Image
Iggy was the first rookies the Bobcats decided to pick in the draft. He brings with him lots of power as many a college player will know! He can also alternate between guard and forward which like Joe Johnson is an added bonus.

8th Round Pick Damon Jones
Drafted 213
Image
Damon was disappointed not to be in the top 200, but the Bobcats decided to pick him at 213. Jones has a lovely 3 point shot, can dish the rock and will be the backup to Billups at point guard.

9th Round Pick Josh Smith
Drafted 243
Image
Josh is another rookie to join the Cats. Josh is another youngster that brings with him explosive power and is another player who can alternate between guard and forward.

10th Round Pick Dajuan Wagner
Drafted 273
Image
Wagner is certainly a project in progress. He was a talented highschool player before moving to the NBA but since then has been labelled lazy, arrogant and a ball hog. The Bobcats know he has talent and are willing to take a gamble on him.

11th Round Pick David Harrison
Drafted 303
Image
Harrison is another rookie drafted into the team. He is another work in progress but he is an excellent rebounder and shot blocker and is building his strength all the time. He will be backing up Dale Davis.

12th Round Pick Anderson Varejao
Drafted 333
Image
The Brazilian was the final player to be drafted by the Bobcats. His hair isnt the only thing he needs to work on but he has promise and at times can be a rebounding machine. He will get better in future but may not see many minutes this season at least.

Yeah I was surprised about the lack of decent centers available. Perhaps I should have drafted a center earlier, but like you said Amare can carry the load. Thanks for the support.

PS First game has been simmed, will be reccaped very soon.

Whoa, you lucked out in the draft. Good luck spreading the minutes, and good luck this season. I usually don't care for Fantasy Drafts but this one caught my eye. Good luck.

Bobcats

Washington Wizards 89-109 Charlotte Bobcats

The new Charlotte Bobcats won their first ever game in the NBA lead behind 31 points from star Kobe Bryant.

The Bobcats had a tough start to the game falling behind early 18 to 6 after some nice shooting from Mike Miller and dominance in the post from Elton Brand. The Wizards finished the quarter on top 31-25.

The 2nd quarter was a different story though with Kobe knocking down his shots and also Damon Jones hitting some treys coming off the bench. Washington were able to stem though the flow of Bobcats baskets with a few of their own from Miller, Brand and Ricky Davis. Both teams were getting to the line quite a lot as well with the teams combining for 54 free throw attempts in the game. The half ended all square 53-53.

Once again the Cats were able to open the quarter strongly, this time with Joe Johnson hitting 11 of his eventual 23 points in the 3rd quarter. This time the Wizards were not able to keep pace with Charlotte and with one quarter left were behind 70-77. Things were looking good for the new franchise team.

The final quarter was comfortable for Charlotte hitting 33 points, with treys coming from Kobe, Damon Jones, Joe Johnson and starting point guard Chauncey Billups. In the end they won easily defeating the Wizards 109 to 89, a very impressive win. Special mentions also go to Amare Stoudemire who got a double double scoring 13pts and 11 rebs and to Damon Jones off the bench scoring 10pts and 5 assists.

Orlando Magic 84-97 Charlotte Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats came out of the dressing room on fire against a visibly weaker Orlando Magic team. Once again it was Kobe Bryant who got the ball rolling scoring 10 points to help the Cats to a 32-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Right at the start of the 2nd quarter the Magic started to wake up and were spreading the ball around well, with most players getting involved. The main scoring threat from the Magic was of course LeBron James. The Bobcats led 55-48 at half time.

The 3rd quarter was the closest one of the game, with each teams locking down on defence with Charlotte limiting Orlando to 15 points in the quarter, and with Magic limiting the Cats to 18. Amare Stoudemire had 2 of his 3 game blocks in the 3rd quarter as Charlotte extended their lead by 3 with the quarter finishing 73-63.

The final quarter the Magic needed to score virtually every shot, but the Bobcats easily handled the pressure of defending the lead thanks to excellent defending from Stoudemire, Bryant and also Joe Johnson. The Bobcats extended their lead by 3 points at the end with the game finishing 84-97 in the home teams favour. LeBron James and Cliff Robinson both led the Magic in scoring with 16 points apiece.
