Our story...

Tue Jun 21, 2005 8:04 pm

...for the now defunct NRS. We're Team Darko but it was just mostly Sit and me who made it coz the rest were busy or MIA. I posted this so that our efforts won't go to waste.

it's based on the old forum style because I made the graphics days before the change...actually it got changed just in time when I submitted it.

hopefully, the other teams can post their's too. i'm kinda curious about it

anyway, here goes

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earl Boykins blocked the 14th shot of the night as the Denver Nuggets preserved their 1 point lead. Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers reclaimed the ball before it went out and launched another which somehow beat the shot clock and swished. The Lakers were up by 1 with 21 seconds remaining in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals of 2007. The Nuggets called timeout and talked things over before making a substitution. Rookie Marcus Malone was sent on court.

The Nuggets made the inbound pass and the ball landed in the hands of Carmelo Anthony who drove into the paint and tried to convert a layup. His shot was swatted into the stands by John Anderson, a 6’2” shooting guard. 12 seconds left on the clock, the game was on the line and Carmelo passed the ball in. The ball fell in Denver’s rookie Malone’s hands… and the computer screen was suddenly filled with a generated face.

“What the…”

The sounds of the game continued and a buzzer was heard and the words coming from the virtual commentator, “And the Lakers make the 2007 NBA Finals!”

“Damn, I had it in the bag!” Alex cursed, “How can the game be so unrealistic? How could you lose after Boykins gets 15 blocked shots, sure Melo got blocked but why the hell did that thing pop up on my screen? This is screwed!” Alex’s brother walked into the room, “I heard you lost! Sucked in.” Alex replied, “I know, and Boykins was having a ripper of a game.” Alex gave his brother thumbs up and flashed a grin in his direction, “Just need to fix the thing that happened at the end of it. Must have been a bug! After I get rid of it, NBA Live will be the perfect game!”

Alex’s brother quietly crept out of the room before Alex saved the game painfully having witnessed the Live engine sim the rest of the playoffs, the Lakers becoming eventual victors in the NBA Finals and Finals MVP going to a bench warmer named Jun Tao who averaged 33 ppg, 14 rpg and 7 apg. “The game is great!” Alex thought, “The stats are so realistic and all but the head bug really pissed me off today.”

Alex’s hand clicked on the internet explorer icon and a new window popped up onscreen. Google was the site Alex visited first. The words ‘Big Head’ were typed into the search engine and then results were filed on screen. Websites about pictures of big heads and hats in the size of XXXL were found and Alex thought, “One day, I might visit them.”

Alex then retyped the search query with ‘NBA big heads.’ A whole lot cheat sites came up with such captions as ‘big head mode’ and ‘NBA Hangtime.’ “I want to turn it off, not get more!” Alex fumed angrily.

It was the last straw. Alex typed in ‘NBA Live’ and something different showed up. An advertisement informing that a holiday had just been won. Alex knew it was a scam and immediately exited out of the window to be greeted with the fowllowing text:

“NBA Live Series Center: www.nba-live.com
Official home of the Roster Patches and the NBA Live editors for Windows.”

Alex thought, “This is it! I am going to get a solution soon I hope!”

It seemed that Alex’s solution was going to be quickly discovered as Alex clicked on ‘FORUMS.’ Bingo! NBA Live 2005 Issues was the place to go. The red background was ugly in Alex’s opinion but answers were needed and Alex entered into the subsection quickly.

Alex looked at the different titles indicating what the topics were about and suddenly felt a grin from satisfaction. “This is it!”

Alex then clicked on a link to Register for membership. The form was filled out quickly.

Name: Alexandra
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Country: Australia
Favorite Team: NBA

She then clicked the ‘submit’ button and the information was quickly processed by the database. A new window was opened to ask her to choose a username.

She entered in many different names but all of them were rejected. A message box popped up reading, “The Username you requested is unavailable. We advise you to choose one of the following: 1) Gay 2) Gay 3) Gay.”

She felt anger start to boil inside of her as she turned around and found a golf club. With one swift motion, Alex let out a scream and knocked out her monitor and computer drive. “Don’t ever call me that that! I am not gay!” Alex then scrambled downstairs and returned to the NBA Live Forums.

She tried to register once more and the same message appeared. “Fine, I give up!” She entered her username as gay and suddenly the room was filled with laughter from her PC speakers. Another message box appeared, “We knew you were gay. Welcome to the NLSC and we hope that you enjoy your time. The Forum has been notified of our third ever female user. Your new username is Livegrrrl.”

Alex then proceeded to look around the NLSC forums. She then found a section called the NBA Live 2005 Technical Issues. She thought that this was the right place to ask about her problem so she clicked the new topic button. She put “Big head” in the topic and proceeded to write her problem.

Alex then looked around the forums reading some interesting threads hoping that when she comes back to her thread she’ll find the solution to her ‘big head’ dilemma. After a few threads, an private message alert popped out of her screen. She then read the message.

Then another one:

By the end of the night, Alex read countless pm’s from people who were asking her out for an e-date or wanting to get here picture. Alex didn’t realize she would become so popular on this forum. She replied to all of them happily. She then went on to check back at the thread she made before hoping someone answered her question.

To her amazement, the thread had two pages of replies after 10 minutes. “That was fast” Alex thought. To her disappointment, all of the replies were just guys coming on to her. All except one. The message went something like this:

Out of the 50 posts on that thread that was actually the only one addressing her problem. Even then, Alex was happy. She finally knew how to fix her problem and enjoy NBA Live to perfection. She also liked how people were really nice to her. So she went to General Talk and made another thread. This time, it was all about her since she was an overnight sensation. To her surprise, there was already one dedicated to her. And guys were there talking about her other bragging that they had the opportunity to talk to her on PM some even going the extra mile and claiming that they had an e-date with her on MSN. Alex liked the attention. She posted there often and met the guys of NLSC becoming an instant hit with all the members.

Alex frequently visited the NLSC forums basking in all the attention that she was showered. A few days went by, her fans were begging for her picture. After some pondering, Alex agreed. She posted some pictures of herself.

“This is me and the gang”

“This is me with my mom and dad”

“This is me with….”

”This is me during….”

Alex posted several pictures of herself and people showered her with praises.

The next day, all the TV stations were running wild with news flash after news flash.

“Earlier today. Several male teenagers all over the world were found brain dead in front of their computers. These teens were all found holding their genitals with their pants pulled down. The same image were found on all the victims computers. It was a picture of a teenage transsexual posted on an online bulletin board. The picture was posted by someone who goes under the name “Livegrrrl” and a caption under the picture stated “This is me two years ago before my operation ; )”
