Pistons Dominate All-Star Weekend

Image

3 Point Shootout

This weekend in Denver was dominated by the Detroit Pistons. It all started with the 3 Point Shootout. Chaucey Billups started out very strong shooting for 23 points to lead the 1st round. Billups had the hot hand and was ready for the other finalist. The other finalist-Peja Stojakovic
Image

The last round began with Peja Stojakovic. He came out shooting like his hand were on fire. He hit every basketball on the first four racks. The he almost shot a perfect fifth rack but missed one ball.
Final Score-29

Now Chauncey Billups knew he had to shot the lights out in the final round. It was a big task, but Chauncey was up to the challenge. He began out on fire and when I mean on fire, he was on fire. Now came the final rack. He had a perfect round going into the final rack. He shot the first-good, second-good, third-good, fourth-good. Now came the moneyball, Chauncey grabbed the ball and released it. It did not look like it was going to go in as soon as he released it. The ball hit the front of the rim and popped up above the rim. The ball began to decend and it fell through the hoop and throught the net. Chauncey had won the 3 Point Shootout by posting a perfect score.
Final Score-30

Slam Dunk Competition

Tayshwn Prince entered the Slam Dunk Competition with high hopes to smother the competition. The other 3 contestants were JR Smith of the Hornets, Josh Smith of the Hawks, and Carmelo Anthony of the Nuggets.

Image

Tayshawn oped up the competition with a big dunk. He alley-ooped the ball off the backboard and put it between the legs and slamed it home. He recieved a perfect 50 from the judges.

Leaderboard-(Round 1, Dunk 1)
Tayshawn Prince-50
Josh Smith-50
Carmelo Anthony-45
JR Smith-35

On his second dunk, he alley-ooped the ball off the Shot Clock in the arena, grabbed it and dunked it all the way to his arm pit. "This one one of the best dunks ever!" commented Julius Erving after the dink on National Telivision.

Leaderboard-(Round 1, Dunk 2)
Tayshawn Prince-100
Josh Smith-99
Carmelo Anthony 90
JR Smith-85

In the final round, Tayshawn knew he had to bring out the nastiest dunk in his arsinal. So Tayshawn threw a "Ooop" off the Jumbo-Tron flipped twice, grabbed it, and put it between his legs and jammed it home with authority. This dunk was jaw dropping goodness for a whole 5 seconds. The arena errupted when he threw it down. The croud went nuts!!!!

Image

Leaderboard-(Round 2, Dunk 1)
Tayshawn Prince-50
Josh Smith-23

IN the final round, Tayshawn just needed to throw down a safe dunk so he would be the winner. Tayshawn threw down a easy dunk and recieved a 49. Tayshawn Prince had earned himself the NBA Slam Dunk Championship.

Winner-Tashawn Prince-99

DETROIT PISTONS-SEASON IN REVIEW
The season in Pictures:
Image
Image

This season can be described in two words-DEFENCE and OFFENCE. This year the Pistons played great defence while their offence followed closey after. Rasheed had a great season on offence averaging 26.3 points per game, and he also averaged 9.9 rebounds per game. Ben Wallace had a great season defensively averaging 15.4 rebounds per game and 10.1 points per game. All the Pistons had increased some of their scoring or defence this season.

Image2005 PLAYOFFS
DEE-troit BAS-KET-balllll!

Image

The Detroit Pistons are headed to the Playoffs to try to win back to back NBA Championships. They will be led by Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton in the front court and Tayshawn Prince, Rasheed Wallace, and Ben Wallace in the backcourt. They will also look for depth off the bench deep in the playoffs.

Detriot started off the Playoffs against the Cleveland Caviliers. Cleveland was coming off a close entry into the playoffs and did not have the experience the Pistons had. Cleveland stole 2 games from the Pistons that they should have won but Detroit stormed back from their losses. In Game 6, Lebron James hit a buzzer beater to send the game into overtime, where the Pistons dominated and put away the Cavs to breeze through the first round 4-2.

Image4 Image2

In the second round, the Pistons faced the Miami Heat. D-Wade and Shaq got into a zone in this series but The Pistons defence and bench kept them from controlling the series. On paper, the Miami Heat had a better team but the Pistons had more depth from the bench and prevailed with a 4-2 series win.

Image4

In the Eastern Conference Finals, Detroit faced the New Jersey Nets. Vince Carter had led the way in the last series averaging 31.5 points per game in the last series against the Atlanta Hawks. But this series.....was different. The Detroit Pistons came into the series with a winning attitude but New Jersey was able to pull out a win in Games 1 and 2. But when they returned to The Palace, it was a whole different story. Detroit stopped Vince Carter and Jason Kidd and held them both to a combind total of 10 points. Detroit Swept the games at The Palace to take a 3-2 series lead heading back to New Jersey to possibly close out the series. The Pistons entered Game 6 wantint to close out the series in New Jersey to send them back to the NBA Finals. At the start of the game, it was all New Jersey. They had jumped out to a 30-15 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. From there to Half Time, Pistons continued their downfall by being held to only 10 points in the 2nd Quarter. The New Jersey Nets were crusing at this point with a confortable 58-25 lead. In the locker room, Larry Brown skreamed at his playersa dn whatever he said, worked the Pistons came out as a totally different team. Their offence was rejuvinated and they were scoring with ease against New Jersey defence. Detroit stormed back but they were still down 81-75 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Pistons tried everything they could and kept scoring. In the closing seconds, New Jersey scored to put them up 115-113 with 3.5 seconds left in the game. All new Jersey had to do was play good defence and they would send the series to a Game 7, but Detroit had other plans. Tayshaun Prince passed the ball into Billups who was wide open off the pick. He cought the ball and shot it. As soon as he released it, he knew it was going in. As the clock expired, the ball dropped through the bottom of the net to win the game 116-115. Pistons had won the game and were on their way to the Finals again to meet the San Aontonio Spurs.

Image4 Image2

The Detroit Pistons faced the San Antonio Spurs in the 2005 NBA Finals. In Game 1, Detroit came with a must win attitude and wanted to put away San Antonio early in the series. Detroit won Game 1, 110-77. In Games 2, 3, and 4, San Antonio prevailed with their defence and offence. The Pistons knew thay had to win Game 5 @ The Palace and they stormed out and won Game 5, 100-91. The Spurs took the series back to San Antonio where they closed out the series with a 100-88 win. The Spurs won the series 4-2.

NBA CHAMPIONS-SAN ANTONIO SPURS

The Pistons played great defense but their offense couldn't get going in the series. They did a great job and hope to be in the same spot next year. We would like to thank all the loyal fans for their support throught the playoffs. :D

ARTICLE-A Timeout with Ronald Dupree-3/15/06

Image

Stultz:Soo, Ronald, what is it like to selected to be in the Slam Dunk Competition?

RD: I have been waiting for this moment all my life and now it has finally come. I am very excited about my chance to show the league what I can really do.

Stultz: Can you give us any idea of what you are thinking about doing in the Competition?

RD: Well, I can't give you what exactly I am going to do because the other competitors will take my ideas, but I will tell you one thing I will do.

Stultz: What are you going to do?

RD: Well, lets just say I am gonna reach really far into the cookie jar.

Stultz: Now that you have resigned with the Pistons, does that give you a boost of confidence while you are on the court.

RD: I don't really think about while I am on the court, but yes it does because I know they want me here so I fell more comfortable playing here now.

Stultz: How do you feel about playing more now tht you have gotten better and boosted your confidence?

RD: I like playing more because I can show off my mad skillz. Hahaha, but yes then, I can proove that I am actually as good as my contract says I am.

Stultz: How do you feel having a NBA Great, Larry Brown as your coach?

RD:Larry Brown is alot of fun. He always jokes aoround with the team, but you don't want to get near him after we have lost a basketball game. He get really ticked off.

Stultz: How has his attitude of the game changed your attitude about the game?

RD: Larry Brown is a great influence to my life. He has taught me alot about the game and helped me with the transition from the NBDL to the NBA.

Stultz: Thanks for talking time with me and I hope you do well in the Dunk Competition.

RD: Thanks, I really appreciate it.

2006 Playoffs

Postby pistons_rock on Wed Jun 08, 2005 11:07 am

Image2006 PLAYOFFS

The Detroit Pistons, after having a great season, take their momentum to the Playoffs.

In the first round, the Pistons went up against the New Jersey Nets who just got into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. They Nets fought and tried to steal a win from Detroit, but Detroit's swarming defense clobbered New Jersey's offense. The Pistons took the series 4-0. After this series, it left Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets laying on the floor, dead tired.
Image4 Image0

In the second round, The Pistons faced an opponent that had stepped up their game from last season and were a major threat to the Pistons. This time, the Washington Wizards put up a big fight against the Pistons by winning the first 2 games of the series at "The Palace". Now the Pistons went to Washington for Games 3 and 4 where they blew out the Wizards to tie the series 2-2. They returned to Detroit for Game 5 where it was a must win situation. They Pistons fought hard all game and prevailed to take a 3-2 series lead. They went into Game 6 with a winning attitude and as a result, They blew out the Wizards to win the series 4-2.
Image4 Image2

Then the Pistons came acrossed the big, bad, Philadelphia 76ers. Allen Iverson gaurenteed that Philly would win and go to the finals. Iverson went crazy in this game scoring 54 points. He dumped in 32 points in the final quarter. The 76ers were down by one with the ball with 1.9 seconds left in the game. Iverson got the ball and got it to half court and threw up a prayer. Amazingly it went in to give the win to the 76ers, 113-111, over the Pistons to go to the NBA Finals. The Pistons lost the series and were forced to watch the Finals as spectators.
Image3 Image4

Philadelphia went on to play Memphis in the NBA Finals. Memphis was the complete better team and dominated Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers. Memphis ended their season with a champioship.

You'd have to have a digital camera to take pics, unless you had some other hardware.
