Just got the idea on the radio when I was taking a taxi a few weeks ago. For me, probably my CPU since that's the only valuable possession I have in my dorm room.

I'd try to save my wife first... hopefullly I make it out as well... if those thins are secured, then I'd go for anything expensive to help cover the first expenses after the disaster...

Probably as much of my DVD/video collection that I could, my mobile phone, wallet, small things like that I could quickly grab. Insurance covers most of the big things like TVs, computers etc.

why did you put up a topic like this null? is there a fire happening near your place?
anyways documents/papers of importance is a good thing to stash away in a briefcase, i always have them handy and it can easily be thrown off the window and still not scattered if anything else gets to worse

Actually that's something I'd save too, all my records that I have stored in an expandable file.
