Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin
Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
CCR
as for Metallica, their last good album IMHO was Black with exception of the S&M compilation....St. Anger sucks....Reload sucks....some people like Load, but I think that sucks too....
Wed May 04, 2005 11:17 pm
I didn't mind Load and ReLoad... it was something different but I think they did a good job with what they were trying to achieve. Black is untouchable, that album still sells 1 million a year.
John Fogerty is one of the best songwriters in the history of rock IMO

The X wrote:yeah, you can't really compare Queen and Metallica....as the old adage goes, it's like comparing apples and oranges....
my opinion....
Queen
Metallica
Pink Floyd
Beatles
G n R
Dire Straits
as you can see it's all good....
admittedly, I don't know as much of Dire Straits as the others that I have listed, but from the stuff I've heard, they're good....
Thu May 05, 2005 12:15 am
my two fav Dire Straits songs are "Walk Of Life" & "Microwave Oven"....Sultans of Swing is also a classic track.....Mark Knopfler is a tremendous guitarist

...I believe he has his own material out aswell rite dweaver?.
Any of you heard of Moody Blues - Nights In One Satin?....great track
Thu May 05, 2005 12:16 am
you're probably too old dweaver
Aaaargghhhh.... maybe so... maybe so... Excuse me while I pack my bags for the retirement home...
Okay, at least a few people have heard of them... that's better than nothing...
Now how about that Britney Spears and her " I love Rock n' Roll " version?

I thought its
Britney Spears - I Love Cock n' Poll
Man that new System Of A Down song sucks.....they've changed their look aswell....they look kinda gay.... I hope the rest of theirs song arent like B.Y.O.B
Queen's awesome...Brian May's an underrated guitarist...it was sad to see Mercury go so soon....Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the greatest songs of all time....its just a masterpiece.

Nice to see younger men appreciate excellence...
Brian May's an underrated guitarist
I don't think he was ever under the radar... It's just that Freddy overshadowed himmm
Thu May 05, 2005 1:18 am
Oh, come to think of it...
For those of you who like Led Zeppelin but not Pink Floyd try listening to "Stairway to Heaven" performed by both bands simulatneously... It's a must
Thu May 05, 2005 2:14 am
Yeah Bohemian Rhapsody is probably the best Queen song out there. I love it.
I would really like to hear Axl Rose's version of it (from Freddy Mercury tribute concert)
I don't think Brian May is underated though, he is really known for his great guitar skills.
I wonder who the best is between him and Slash btw? What do you guys think? I can only say that I like Slash's riffs more than Brian's.
I got excited by reading the stuff Jowe wrote about Van Halen, I basicly only heard Jump and the co song with Jackson "beat it" by him.
Thu May 05, 2005 2:39 am
Yeah Brian May is/was far from underrated... actually that whole band (deservedly) got a shit load of recognition nonetheless.
Didn't Axl perform that song with Elton John or someone gay (literally)?
Thu May 05, 2005 3:07 am
I know that Axl Rose has performed a song with Elton John but I don't think it was Bohemian Rhapsody but I don't know.
Elton John did however made a tribute of Queen's "Show most go on".
Thu May 05, 2005 3:29 am
I just Googled it, it was Bohemian Rhapsody by Elton and Axl
Thu May 05, 2005 4:28 am
Oh I was wrong then
Anyway I would really like to see that performance though I kinda hate Elton John.
Has anyone here seen it?
Thu May 05, 2005 4:44 am
I've seen part of it, only like 10 seconds or so though. They overplayed the George Michael performance at that same concert in England.
Thu May 05, 2005 7:16 am
Where are the hotties??

I have listened to it a lot of times, it's great!!
The "opera" part is kinda odd, but it's cool...

Its an awesome song
its one of the reasons that Waynes World was so great haha
I'll never forget that scene

i have to admit i made a wrong statement there above....i dont like mercury not becuase of his vocals or his composed songs.......the fact i dont like him is his lets say his homosexuality....which ultimately destroyed the band image back then......one of my greatest love song ever from queen is "love of my life". i also dig the "fat bottom girls" song....
i am an avid beatle maniac.... the first song i have heard from them is a rock and roll one......"why dont we do it in the road" and i have been head banging with them since......there most rockest album ever the WHITE ALBUM was one amongst the best in the music world IMHO
Thu May 05, 2005 11:57 am
fact i dont like him is his lets say his homosexuality....
Uh-oh... I can feel a flame war coming.... hide the women and children!!!
there most rockest album ever the WHITE ALBUM
Try the BLACK ALBUM from Metalica and draw comparisons...
Thu May 05, 2005 11:59 am
only from the beatles......only from the beatles......metallica will kick beatles butt when it comes to metal rock.....so i have to say the WHITE ALBUM is still the rockest(not heavy metal only rock) album ever.
Thu May 05, 2005 3:21 pm
You... think Freddy being gay destroyed the image of Queen? Did it not occur to you that the name of the band in itself was pretty gay to begin with, "Queen" is most commonly either associated with royalty or homo's.
Thu May 05, 2005 3:35 pm
"Queen" is most commonly either associated with royalty or homo's.
Maybe it wuld be even worse if the band was called .... "Queer" ....
Thu May 05, 2005 3:44 pm
The Elton John - Axel Rose performance was quite strange considering that Rose had made clear he hated homosexuals....I find it strange considering the clothing Axel wore would definitely be seen as "gay" these days. Equally suprising was his performance with Eminem.
Elton John's a nice guy, dont hate on him just cause his sexual preference is different. Hes a very good musician, one of the best....Im not a fan of his but if you listen to some of the songs theirs alot of passion and meaning in them...even though they are mostly commonly associated with relationships.
