SbHzMaFiA wrote:Everyone like different style of music, and rap has many different styles which is why I think it's the best. Southern rap is known as crunk music, East rap is known as more freestyling and hip-hop, the West is known more as gangsta lean type music. So if you like that type of music, there is nothing I can really do about that, but I like the crunk music such as Pastor Troy. Southern rap is more of that mean-mug type of rap and IMO the african-american fanbase enjoys more than other rap.

The difference here is that we (or at leats me and Skip) know about all areas good rapper, you don't know about anything other than the South. Now I still like the South, especially Geto Boys, OutKast, UGK, etc.
While there are different types of hip-hop, who are YOU to say that African-Americans like South music more than any other? All my african-american friends respect all types of hip-hop but only a select few of them (the ones who go to clubs night in and out) like crunk music over any other type of hip-hop.
...popularity does not make an artist a good artist. Tell me, you keep mentioning these mainstream figures so I decided to give you a question. P. Diddy was very popular a few years ago and he was at the top of a lot of those charts, does that make him a good artist? Not to mention that Mike Jones (who?) and Paul Wall are some of the worst rappers I've ever heard.

Don't say that too fast because someone brought up Lloyd Banks from G-Unit, but how you not going to know Young Buck from G-Unit? When you mention UGK, Geto Boys, Goodie Mob, those rappers haven't came out with nothing in the previous year and probably ended up selling a bunch of albums and their albums going platinum or gold.
Not to mention that Mike Jones (who?) and Paul Wall are some of the worst rappers I've ever heard.

Puff Daddy has sucked as a rapper his whole career and who cares if he had big names on his albums, if I had a record label as big as Bad Boy then I'd have as many guest appearances too...

And just because you put out a lot of music doesn't make you good.

That's an understatement. That's just like saying that if you put out a good album, doesn't mean you are a good rapper. It really doesn't make sense.
Oh I would kill to be in Sean's position right now. I admire the fact he can blow up like that in an industry that he isn't very talented in. It's remarkable. If the phrase 'pimped the system' was ever appropriate it's right now.Give props when props are do because you got to respect the man's job. He takes care of business and yes his TV shows are crappy, but he know what he is doing and that's why he is so successful.

Well to put in his terms, I know alot of black people since I am black and I have more opinions from others that love rap/hip hop than probably anyone else. I'm not saying some of you don't know alot of black people, but I interact with blacks every day all day which is why I think my opinion is stronger. The fact that more blacks listen to rap than other races as well.

You right, I don't like all the classic shit because it's time for things to change. If you keep trying to live in the past, you will never get anywhere. New styles of music come out and everything goes on. There's no need of keep bringing up these people that have these old skool beats and rhymes because that stuff IMO was good in the 90's and its the 21st century and that MAINSTREAM shit you talking about has been the thing in the 21st century.
