Best EA Sports 2005 game?

Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:36 pm

Which one of this year's EA Sports' release do you think is better in each of the following categories?

1 - Dynasty/Franchise Mode

2 - In-game gameplay

3 - presentation/menus/graphics

4 - commentary

5 - durability/longevity through time

1. Madden. No sports game is even close. You can relocate stadiums, deal with individual players needs and listen to a radio talk show in the background. Amazing

2. Also have to stick with Madden. They improve the gameplay each year, and its just head and shoulders above anything else.

3. Once again, Madden.

4. NBA Live. Czar and Marv are great, and maddens commentary has never been good.

5. Madden.

Don't forget about the player progression system in Madden. The players that play better actually see an increase in their stats during the year. Madden ragards the Overall rating as a publicly "perceived" player ability rather than just a sum of all the individual stats.

The gameplay is great too, but if you thought tweaking NBA sliders was rough, boy, you should check Madden ...

I dont mind tweaking the madden sliders, i watch more nfl games than i do nba games, so it works out for me. The good thing about Maddens player progression is its purely stat based. If a player is producing when he's 35, he doesnt decline until his stats do. Very realistic. Its the best sports game out there, without a question.

1 - Dynasty/Franchise Mode
Madden, all the way. I've never seen a game that deep in franchise mode.

2 - In-game gameplay
It has to be Madden also. I'm a hit stick addict.

3 - presentation/menus/graphics
NBA Live's are pretty nice. Also the very much underrated NHL 2005.

4 - commentary
NBA Live BY FAR. Madden's commentary makes me wanna punch myself. "Do you know that whole deal when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Well, the unstoppable force won that one".

5 - durability/longevity through time
NBA Live, it is the game I play most of the time.

Thu Mar 03, 2005 4:05 am

like the posts before me i am gonna have to give madden the vote for option 1 and 2 in a landslide. i will also give number 3 to madden but not by a big margain. now 4 and 5 are both going to nba live. number 4 if by far better in live imo but 5 is really close. the lack of mid game saves really kills nba live for me. i end up playing this game alot less because of it. infact i dont think i will buy another nba live til they add mid game saves as i just dont play them long enough to fully enjoy it.

Thu Mar 03, 2005 5:47 am

1 - Dynasty/Franchise Mode
Definateally Madden. but as a REAL close 2nd- MVP 2005

2 - In-game gameplay
Madden. Two words- Hit Stick

3 - presentation/menus/graphics
Probally Madden

4 - commentary
Cant Beat (un-intentionally hilarious) John Madden. Although Its hard to beat (allso un-intentionally) Hilarious Marv Albert. so its close

5 - durability/longevity through time
Live (because i have it for the PC) for the patches

Thu Mar 03, 2005 12:30 pm

Madden for 1,2,3, and 5. Live for 4. Madden commentary is just recycled bullshit from 2001. But it has a kick-ass franchise, better menu's (better resolution), a gameplay with only two major flaws (super-jumping corners that swat at the ball blindly-and hit it, and o-lines that either completely fuck up or block perfectly.), and I'm still playing it.

No love for FIFA 2005?

Good game, but I was comparing the 4 American Major Sports' games by EA. I don't think FIFA can participate since there is no dynasty mode, at least not in the sense the these 4 provide. My take,though...

Fri Mar 04, 2005 7:58 am

well, football is the most popular sport in the world

Fri Mar 04, 2005 8:18 am

:boohoo: Go cry a river :(

Dreaver decided not to include Fifa becuase 1) it represents a shitty sport, and 2) he said, and I quote "Good game, but I was comparing the 4 American Major Sports' games by EA. So shut up and contribute, or don't post in this thread. Simle.

Yes,it is. And if you thought I was American, guess again. I'm from Greece and soccer(or football in Europe, which is a good interpretation as it is a game actually played by foot) has always been the top dawg here, especially after our Euro 2004 victory in the summer. But,personally, I find it slow and hard to follow on average.
The average soccer game is boring to me, but on th eother hand the best soccer game is much more enjoyable then any ther sport's best game IMHO. Plus, I like the American system of drafting youth through college(or highschool) and the whole leaue organization more to my taste, even a tad flashy. Guess I like flashy and extravagant things that are made to look more than they probably really are...
That said,I'll support Barca all the way... What happened to Litmanen, anyway?

I know you are a mod in this section but there is no need for that. He was just voicing his opinion.

Fri Mar 04, 2005 12:18 pm

There is a need for it, its off topic totally. The point of this thread is "best ea sports 2005 game" not "which is the most popular sport in the world".

Madden is alrite but even if ur having a winning season and the players are getting paid good money they will be mad at you and say they want out and then not re-sign with you during the off-season. NBA is much better, in my opinion. It has the most improvement over last years game.

I don't really think it's that off topic. The person was asking why FIFA wasn't on the list and giving reasons for why he thought it could be. Totally off topic would be talking about the Sims 2 and how my created lady fell in love with the mailman.

Point is, while you may not like soccer or think it's a "shitty" sport, other people do. Truth is, some people don't like the NBA b/c of players "shitty" attitudes and even sometimes "shitty" basketball. FIFA does have a dynasty mode. Fairly in depth too. Finally, Soccer, or Futbol, is also an American sport my friend. I played it, I watch it, and I bought my FIFA 2005 from Best Buy in the USA. God Bless America!

Oh, my vote goes to nba live 2005.

And in the time it took you to reply to that, the person you were directing it to has already actually retired from posting at the NLSC
