I've Got Computer Problems!

Sat Feb 26, 2005 8:55 am

Okay, here's my story. I was on AIM and I decided to look at this girl's profile. Her away message read -- "PICS FROM THE BEACH: (link)". I clicked on the link, stupidly, and then a lot of windows popped up and then disappeared.

Ever since, I've had SpyWare/MalWare/AdWare on my computer, and I don't know how to get it off. I have AdAware and SpyBot, but whenever I delete the stuff(It's ElitumBar or something. If someone asks what it is, I'll find out again.) but it keeps coming back within minutes.

Symptoms of this SpyWare/MalWare/AdWare:
- Casino pop-ups and pop-ups telling you that you have spyware, attempting for you to actually click on the pop-up.
- My homepage changed to searchmiracle.com.

That's about it, and right now, I can't get it off, so I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks.

Lol I hope she was worth it . You might have to invest in mcafee spyware removal. They are better than ad aware and spybot, but they cost money.

lavasoft adaware, spybot search and destroy, and microsoft's antispyware are the only three programs you need. run each of them twice (alternating, not twice in a row) and your pc will be spyware free again.

You can just run a search and you'll get some hits. Run a search on "removing searchmiracle". You can also search for removing elitebar. If you read on how to solve the problem you'll solve it.

Try downloading System Mechanic 4, it's by far the best system management program I've worked with.
It's got everything. (Y)

BTW, you got al that shit in your machine for being a horndog. (j/k)

Take alook into registry mechanic too.

Sometimes spyware adds some registry entrys.

Goodluck man.

threatlockz, I tried your idea -- didn't work.

I took your advice Matthew and searched removing methods through Google. I joined GeeksToGo.com and let them know of my problem. I'm still waiting for a response...

Jona, System Mechanic didn't solve the problem. Thanks though.

But there was someone from here who helped me, and that was...HOMER! Yes, he PM'd me and told me run to AdAware and SpyBot in Safe Mode, which I did. I have no clue how it worked, but my computer is now EliteBar free! Thanks Homer!!

Lol! Of course he's changed  that's what he said the last 2 times he came back. Do we really have to put up with him again?

the best anti-spy ware out there is MICROSOFTS anti spyware beta. our company uses it and we never have any more of a problem at all.

info:it only works for original version of windows so beware(pirates arrr. arrr) 8-)
