Post Moves?

Postby Colin on Tue Dec 28, 2004 11:42 am

I finally played the game today on my new comp. First of all I love it, but secondly it's hard to get by defenders in the post while in post up. I was Amare, and I couldn't spin past Jason Collier in the post. :?

Anybody got tips for move combos that seem to work.?
BTW, I play on all-star.

Try the pro hop button to do a spin move in the post...

I'm having trouble getting my spin in the right direction. I will be experimenting with all the different buttons and freestyle stuff over the next few days. I never did use the drop-step in the post last year, might have to this year. I'm angered that I can't pro-hop with Amare though, he's athletic enough, and he's more of a high post operator anyways. :x

I think the direction of the spin depends on your player's position e.g. the drop step varies if your player is on the left side of the paint compared to the right side of the lane.

im too having some problems with one particular post move that i cant figure out how to do it...

its the move where the post player just blatantly shoves the defender out of the way and dunks it... the computer does it to me quite frequently but for some reason i cannot do it to the computer even with player with high strength ratings...

i tried using the pro hop while in the post but all he does is either spin/dropstep or the dream shake... i want to shove the guy

does anyone know the move im talking about and if so do you know how to do it?

:x If you can't control it that sucks.

Oh, yes... that move....
Well, it's hard to do that move if your charging/blocking slider is too high.

But if you really want to do it, I *think* you have to run towards the defender closely and while you are running directly in front of him (it looks as if you're trying to push the defender) press the jumpstop button.

thanks... everytime i post that question it dies after a day... hehehe

but i got it to work now...

for me it seems to work only if i receive the ball with my back to the defender and i havent dribbled yet.... then if i hold the towards the direction of the basket and press the pro hop button as my initial move it goes into that funny charging/push animation.... it doesnt work all the time though... maybe 4 times the whole game... i suppose if people were able to do it with the defender in the restricted area it would be unstoppable....

thanks.... i love that move only cuz it pisses my cousin off... when i do it and he cant do anything about it... ahahhaa (Y)

All i do is back down on my player once and spin to the baseline. Shaq usually has a two hand slam after that or a lay up. And by the way, you can't shove your defender, that's a foul =). I don't know how to do that move but i know how to counter it. When the CPU does that to u just move back a litlle and let him do his move and when he's about to make the shot attempt, jump to block his shot. That usually works for me, that's why i have Shaq averaging 4blks a game.
Play On.

hehe yeah but thats shaq... its a little different when shaq is the one shoving and bosh is the one trying to block...

if i dont push him out he will just walk in and dunk it... if i try to push him out he'll do the shove or drop step... then dunk it... at least with me knowing now how to shove back on my side i can take pleasure in shoving and saying "take that you son of a..." even if i do end up with a charging call.... hahahaha

plus usually when the computer wants to dunk it goes into its animation especially on superstar where my defender always stumbles back and doesnt respond to my buttons... even if i hold the take charge button... my guy just slides back then stumbles into the restricted area and i cant do anything... i cant even jump to foul the guy...

You have to anticipate the CPU doing that move so you can move back, that way your opponent will not be able to shoulder you out of the way, then time your jump for the block =).
Play On.

Yeah, I hate that bug!!! :x Sometimes if I have a center like Shaq, and the opponent penetrates into the basket, I would wait under the basket for the block. But half the time my player would bounce backwards and be unable to do anything.

Even if I did jump slightly earlier, the CPU would push my player midair out of his way, and my player will end up landing way sooner than he should be.
