Except for two players, Kyle Korver and Kedrick Brown who are both on the IR and couldn't manage it to come and play the Open Practice, all the players were present. We introduce to you, the 2004/2005 Philadelphia 76ers, coached by Jim O'Brien. On the first row, from left to right, we see Samuel Damenbert, he will be playing his 3rd year for the 76ers and also his 3rd year as a pro. Last season Samuel appeared in all the 82 games and started 53 of them, in these games he scored a grand total of 652 points. Samuel will be the starting center. Next player is Kenny Thomas, he will be playing his 3rd year for Philadelphia and his 8th year in the NBA, he got traded in a three-way deal in 02/03 from Houston to Philadelphia. Last season Thomas appeared in 74 games and started 72 of them, in these games he managed to score a total of 1,006 points. Thomas will be the starting power forward. Then we see Glenn Robinson, Robinson will play his second year for the 76ers. Last year Glenn only appeared in 42 games, he missed 37 games due an injury and three due a NBA suspension. He started all the 42 games and scored 698 points for Philadelphia. Robinson will be the starting small forward for Philadelphia. After Robinson we see the star player of the 76ers, Allen Iverson. Iverson his playing his 9th season in both Philadelphia and the NBA. Last season he only played 48 games and started 47, but scored 1,266 points. He was named co-captain for Team USA in the 2004 Olympics and was named Eastern Conference All-Star for the 5th time in a row. Iverson will be the starting shooting guard for the 76ers.

On to the second row. First player on the left is Aaron McKie, a true veteran. Playing his 8th season in Philadelphia and his 12th in the NBA. Last season McKie appeared in 75 games and started 41. He scored 689 points in these games. He ended the season among the NBA Leaders in three-point field goal percentage as 5th with .436. McKie will be the last started, he starts as point guard. Onto the bench players. Second from the left, second row, we spot Marc Jackson. Playing his second season for the 76ers and his 5th in the NBA. Last season he appeared in 22 games, started 13 of them. In these games he managed to score 206 points. Jackson will be the backup center in case Samuel Dalembert get's injured. Next to Jackson we see Brian Skinner. He's playing his second season for the 76ers, but not in a row. In 02/03 he played for us, but in 03/04 he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. But he's back after playing 56 and starting 54 games last season with 589 points. Skinner is the backup power forward incase something happens to Thomas. Last player in row two is John Salmons. He's playing both his third season in Philadelphia as in the NBA. Last season he appeared in 77 games, which he started 24 of. In these games he scored 443 points, Salmons will be the backup small foward as backup for Robinson.

Onto the third row. More bench players. First on the left is rookie shooting guard Andre Iguodala. He is introduced to the 76ers for the first time. Playing his first season in both Philadelphia and the NBA. What can we expect from him? We absolutely don't know. Iguodala is the backup shooting guard for Iverson. Let's hope he get's some good chances to prove himself. Next to Iguodala we have a real veteran, Kevin Ollie. Ollie is playing his 8th season in the NBA, and his first in Philadelphia. Another new face. Ollie played for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season were he play the whole 82 games but started only 7 of them. In these 82 games he scored 341 points. Despite the fact he has lot's of experience, Ollie is the backup point guard for McKie. Then we see another new face, lot's of new faces this season, Corliss Williamson. Williamson is playing his 9th season in the NBA. Last season he played for the Detroit Pistons who won the title, he played 79 games and started 0 last season. He only played for 1574 minutes and scored 752 points. Williamson is another small forward in the 76ers line-up. Last player attending at the Open Practice, shooting guard Willie Green. Last year as a rookie he 53 games but started 0, he scored 364 points. He will be another shooting guard backup, let's hope he get's some chances this season.

Players who weren't attending in the Open Practice were Kyle Korver and Kedrick Brown. Last year Korver played 74 games as a rookie in which he scored 330 points. Brown is playing his first season for Philadelphia after playing in Cleveland last season. Last season he played 55 games and scored 289 games.

November Preview:

Let's fill the gass tanks because the 76ers are starting on the road! In the first game of this years' season Philadelphia will visit the Boston Celtics in their opening game on Wednesday the 3rd. With a strong new Roster the Philadelphia 76ers should be able to win this first game. But the Celtics also have some very good players. Players like Gary Payton, a very strong veteran shooting and point guard. Last season he 1,199 points to make his career total of 19,956. Is he going to score his 20,000th career point this season? After the game in Boston the 76ers come home again and play the Phoenix Suns. In this game, the first home game of the month, the 76ers will play in retro jerseys. This will be a new tradition. Every month another jersey of another year. Which one they will use this first time is still unknown, it's going to be suprising.

After these games two other road games follow against the Detroit Pistsons and the New York Knicks. After these two the 76ers stay home for a while when they play five games against the New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Seattle Sonics and the San Antonio Spurs. Then another on the road game follows against the Miami Heat. And then Philadelphia returns home again when they play the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. The last game of the month is on the road against the Orlando Magic. In this game the Philadelphia 76ers will also show up in retro jerseys since the last game of the month will also be retro night, which jersey they will wear this time is also unknown and will be a suprise.

Profile of the Month:

Shooting Guard Allen Iverson

Allen Iverson played his first basketball games at a young age. Though he first didn't want to, his mom bought him some Jordan sneakers and forced him to go visit a basketball practice. There he met some of his football friends and the love for a new sport was born. Growing up in environment Iverson was growing up wasn't a sunshine story. And after getting the Bethel High School win the trophy twice in a row begin a quarterback, and then the same with the basketball team, it wasn't strange the whole city knew Allen. And after a brawl in between black and white students in a bowling alley Iverson went to jail. 17-Year old Iverson was convicted as an adult and got five years for throwing a chair at a girl that night. But four months later, the first black gouvener Doug Wilder, granted him conditional release. Allen and his friends always denied the fact that Iverson threw a chair at the girl. "For me to be in a bowling alley where everybody in the whole place know who I am and be crackin' people upside the head with chairs and think nothin' gonna happen?" asked Iverson. "That's crazy! And what kind of a man would I be to hit a girl in the head with a damn chair? I wish at least they'd said I hit some damn man." Besides Iverson four other people were charged, all blacks, they were sentenced 15 years in prison. After doing jail time in spring 1993, Iverson worried about his prospects. Although extremely bright, Iverson was never a good student and was falling behind in school. The notoriety didn't help. "I'm sure some colleges will stay away," Iverson said from his cell. "But it'll work out. This has given me time to think about what I need to do to succeed in the world." In the summer before he went to jail Iverson made a name for himself at the Nike Camp in Indianapolis and four others. He won the MVP Trophy as a member of Bo Williams' team. In fact, Nike continued treating him as a celebrity during the trial, sending an extra set of plane tickets so that Iverson would not miss any camp activities while the trial was in progress.

Troughout the trial, college coached were still interested in Iverson. "Unless he's behind bars, we're recruiting him," said George Washington assistant coach Eddie Meyers. "It's as simple as that." Iverson's mom Ann was sure he needed a strong coach, and she tought Eddie Meyers was that. She went up to Meyers and asked him if he wanted to take Iverson under his wings, and he said yes. Since then Iverson started playing college basketball for Georgetown, the football community wasn't big there so it stayed basketball. Allen once asked coach John Thompson: "What you think about me playing football?" And he didn't answer. He just looked at Allen like he was crazy, so Allen never thought about playing football again after that day. Iverson finished his two years of college basketball succesfull. That year, everyone's mind was on the NBA. Except Allen's. Choosing Georgetown University, Allen had to give priority to basketball - and no longer football ("I miss the game so much"). Off the court, coach Thompson helped Iverson to fight off the rumors - and temptation - of turning pro after the season. Still, as we all know, Iverson was forced to leave Thompson and Georgetown after his sophomore season. His youngest sister was terribly ill and desperately needed medical treatment, something Allen's family couldn't afford. To save his sister's life, Allen left Georgetown and headed for the NBA. The rest we all know.... "With the first pick in the 1996 NBA draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select..Allen Iverson from Georgetown University!" It was no longer a dream. No longer was it what he worked for to give his family money and food on the table. No longer was it just a "future possibility". Allen was off to the pros.

After being drafted 1st overall in the 1996 NBA draft Iverson quickly established himself as a premier NBA backcourtman, winning Rookie of the Month honors in November and going on from there to a brilliant season in which he was named Rookie of the Month again in April and Schick Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Rookie First Team following the season. Troughout the years Allen led the 76ers in scoring, assists and steals. Though the 76ers were struggling to keep their heads up, Iverson kept playing his game. In 1999, Iverson puts op big numbers when he scored a career-high 28.4 points per game in his fourth pro season, finishing second behind the Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal in the scoring race. He also averaged 4.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.06 steals in 40.8 minutes per game, shooting .421 from the field, .341 from three-point range and .713 from the foul line. He ranked third in the NBA in steals and minutes and first in field goal attempts (1,733), while he led the Sixers in field goals (729), three-pointers (89) and free throws (442). Iverson started for the East in the 2000 All-Star Game and led all scorers with 26 points in 28 minutes, shooting 10-for-18 from the field including 2-for-2 from three-point range and 4-for-5 from the foul line. He also handed out a team-high nine assists. He started all 10 playoff games and averaged 44.4 minutes per game despite being hampered by a number of nagging injuries. He averaged 26.2 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.20 steals per game, with a high of 40 points in the First Round opener at Charlotte on April 22. In the 2001/02 season Iverson was named the winner of the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as the NBA's MVP. In the 2001/02 playoffs Iverson averaged 32.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.4 steals in 46.2 minutes per game as he started and played in 22 of 23 games, missing one game due to injury and became the second player (behind Michael Jordan) to score 50 or more points twice in a Playoff series when he scored 52 points in Game 5 versus Toronto.

Ever since Allen Iverson is one of the most amazing players the Philadelphia 76ers ever knew.

76ers defeat Celtics in season opener
November 3, 2004

Image Image Image
Player of the game Samuel Dalembert lands two tomahawks, and coming from the bench Williamson scored a team highest 32 points (right)

BOSTON, Massachusetts - In the season opener of the NBA 04/05 season the 76ers defeated the Celtics with just a five point lead.

The game was neather dominated by the 76ers or the Celtics. Both teams stayed close wether they trailed or lead the game. The lead never got bigger than an 8 point difference. Star player of the game, who didn't make it player of the game though, was with no doubt Corliss Williamson. Early in the fourth quarter Williamson got from the bench when he replaced other center Samuel Dalembert. In the 17 minutes Williamson had played he was at a 15-26 scoring effort including 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Player of the game was Samuel Dalembert, he played 34 minutes and had a 9-15 scoring effort including 9 rebounds and two assist. Also he blocked a total of 8 shots.

In the first quarter both teams had to find the right form and get into the game again, even though they already practiced for months. The 76ers held the Celtics under their thumb this first quarter after coming back from a 0-12 scoring streak by the Celtics. Iverson did a pretty good job as he scored 12 of the 28 points and made an assist with a FG% of .714. The first quarter was won by the 76ers with 28-21.

The Celtics didn't had a hard time coming back as they had another scoring streak and took back the lead, though the 76ers didn't let them get to far and both teams made some nice actions. Samuel Dalembert made 4 of his total 8 blocks in this quarter so the lead of the Celtics wasn't to big, the Celtics won the second quarter with two points more, the real score after the second was 55-50 in the advantage of Philadelphia.

In the third quarter Philadelphia had a hard time finding the basket when they struggled with both 3-point attempts and dunks. Though only three shots were blocked by the Celtics the 76ers couldn't hold the lead, after starting the quarter with a 5 point lead the 76ers now trailed by 7 points with a 81-88 score.

Trailing by 7 the Philadelphia 76ers still had the chance to beat the Boston Celtics. It didn't look like it though when the Celtics had a 0-12 scoring streak in the beginning. 76ers' Coach Jim O'Brien decided to take Samuel Dalembert out the field and get Corliss Williamson of the bench. Williamson didn't disappoint his coach as he scored 32 points out of the total 36 points the 76ers made this quarter. To say the least the 76ers won the game thanks to him with a 117-112 score.

Wow! Just saw this, great presentation! Keep this up. I got a soft spot in my heart for the 76ers! Take them to the Championship with or without AI.

good luck. I look forward to many more updates.

nice dynasty goin on here........ thanks for using my sliders, glad you like 'em. by the way a few suggestions:

1. change the dunk v.s. lay-up to 3, because at 2 i cant dunk with caron butler only kobe does. and now at 3 it's perfect.
2. change the dunk/lay-up block ability to 5, at 10 i stil get a lot of blocks and at 5 it's perfect.

like you i haven't updated my lakers dynasty in a week because of work, i'll be playing today though..... hoping for a nice recap....

keep up the good work.......
