Lets just say, the Nets are doing way too good. J-Kidd is averaging 27ppg... unrealistic! When I play them I plan to destroy them! hahaha

And Grant is doing awesome for me and so is Rush... I dont think I'll trade them!

Oh yeah... and a HUGE blockbuster trade is coming soon!

BRYANT OUTPLAYS ALLEN, LAKERS DECIMATE SONICS

Los Angles Lakers 133 @ Seattle Supersonics 101

Image
ABOVE: BRIAN GRANT SLAMS DOWN A KOBE ASSIST

Dec 15, Los Angeles – Kobe Bryant promised that the Lakers came first in front of individual success. And he delivered. In his first match-up with Ray Allen, the 8th year guards went at their own businesses with both delivering on offence, but Kobe was the one who had more to offer for his team. The Lakers won their fifth straight ballgame on the road at Seattle 133-101.

The Lakers ran away with a 32 point win over the Seattle Supersonics behind a 32 point and 10 assist effort from Kobe Bryant. Ray Allen who had 32 points on a blistering 13-23 denied that the two were in a hyped ‘rivalry.’ “It’s all about the media but I still stand by my comments (made in the preseason)… good luck to the Lakers for the rest of the year.”

Kobe led 8 players in double figures- the best team effort in the NBA this year and the best game for Los Angeles. Vlade Divac’s 18 and 12, Devean George scored 14 and Kareem Rush scored 13 from the off the bench. Brain Grant and Chukey Atkins threw in 12 apiece with Caron Butler on 11. Chris Mihm completed the team’s amazing feat by chipping in 10, 11 and 5 blocks off the bench. Los Angeles as a team shot 56% from the field and over 40% from three point territory.

Ray Allen had little support form his team mates with a foul-plagued Rashard Lewis on 21 points in 26 minutes and Antonio Daniels on 17 despite horrible shooting. “If I had stayed in the game longer, I believe we could have had a chance,” Lewis said. When Lewis picked up his second foul in the first quarter, the Lakers went on an 18-4 spurt in a 5 minute period.

The Lakers led from the first quarter on with the Sonics never coming back within single digits after the first period. More than half of the Lakers’ field goals came off a Lakers assist and at the end of the game; the Lake Show had amassed 33 assists for 56 field goals. This compared to the Sonics’ puny 11 assists clearly showed everyone why the Lakers dominated the game. Lakers coach Rudy T said, “It shows that we got the flow of the game we want. Our team is starting to get off!”

Midway through the third quarter, the fans started to leave the KeyArena while others just sat in the stands and cheered for the away team and jeered the home team- a rare sight for Seattle. “We know our fans are always 100% in support of us. Tonight we played too bad to gain their support and Los Angeles stole our cheers,” Allen said.

Down by 17 entering the fourth quarter, the Sonics came out with Allen scoring 6 straight points before the Lakers were only up by 11. This led to the re-entry of Kobe Bryant and his presence was felt as he forced Allen into 5 missed baskets and also blocked Allen 3 times. Bryant was even more dynamic on the offensive end by throwing an alley-oop to Brian Grant which started a 16-0 run by the Lakers including Bryant’s 8 straight points. “I let all my team mates do the work in the first three quarters and when we needed some energy I provided it,” Bryant said and when asked about his match-up against Allen, “He
(Allen) played good tonight but it came down to the win that we of course got!”
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Notes: Lamar Odom who is out indefinitely has told the Lakers he wants to be traded… Karl Malone’s return is becoming more imminent as he is doing 75% of the Lakers’ practises… A fan at the KeyArena passed out when asked to go out onto the court to shoot from halfway to win a car… Bill Walton slammed his hand in joy and was admitted into hospital after his son Luke Walton made a steal, missed a lay up and then caught the rebound to score… Kobe Bryant is leading the league in scoring, free throws attempted and made and is first amongst SG in assists… The Lakers meet Sacramento at home next…

LEAGUE ROUNDUP

yahoo.com

Dec 16

LAMAR ODOM DISGRUNTLED

Lakers forward, Lamar Odom has been reported to be disgruntled with his current situation in Los Angeles. Averaging 16.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg and 3.3 apg on 48% shooting, the fifth year player has demanded a trade. “I knew that coming back (to LA) was a bad idea. Deep down I was scared I’d become what I was before.”

The second option on offence for the Lakers who have won 5 straight hasn’t played in two games and is reportedly disappointed that the team has been playing its best basketball of the season without him. “It hurts real bad to know I’m not part of this team when we got the best chemistry going.”

His reason for leaving was that he wanted to be in a team where he could utilise his skills at his best advantage. “I believe I play a lot like Kobe (Bryant) and I don’t think I can’t compliment him and vice versa. I know Kobe can carry this team by himself and by finding someone who can help him more than me would be ideal.”

GM Will Sit released a statement: “We as the Lakers are trying our best to be able to find a suitable place for Lamar to go where he will be able to contribute and be on a championship contender. Right now, he just has to play along as we try to find the right place for him.”

RON ARTEST CHARGED WITH ASSUALT

Ron Artest, 2003-04 Defensive Player of the Year, of the Indiana Pacers was charged with assault yesterday and was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment. His team and the NBA refused to pay bail for him to continue to play with the Pacers which puts him behind bars for the rest of the season. A statement was made by Commissioner David Stern saying, “Best of luck to the Pacers without Artest… we don’t want to enter into criminal matters and the NBA doesn’t tolerate what he did.”

On November 19, Artest was involved in one of the most despicable brawls in the NBA’s history as he entered the stands at Auburn Hills against Detroit. He proceeded to land punches on an innocent bystander who successfully sued him for the assault charge.

The NBA has also decided Artest will not receive any pay for the rest of this NBA season. Artest was also fined but received special consideration from the court as Artest had already apologised to the prosecutor and that his basketball career would be at risk if he were imprisoned for too long a period.

He is due out of jail on April 12, 2005.

NELLY: BOBCAT’S MVP?

Hip Hop artist and Bobcats’ stakeholder, Nelly is fast becoming the Bobcats’ star player. The catch 22? He doesn’t even play for the team. Nelly has recently been receiving louder cheers and calls to perform at home games than the players on the court do. The Cats on a 4 game losing streak who last won against the Hawks at home are fast losing their creditability.

“I think I sign more merchandise than Emeka Okafor does,” Nelly says.

SHAQUILLE O’NEAL: NBA MVP

The Diesel is doing his thing on the basketball court. Bid Daddy had 26 and 21 in a Heat victory and has also clearly overtaken former Lakers’ team mate Kobe Bryant in the race for the League’s most prestigious individual award.

His 26 ppg, 15 rpg and 2.3 bpg are just dominating the League right now.

MARCUS FIZER AND KEON CLARK

Both players were picked up for relatively big contracts. Right now, Fizer with the Bobcats is averaging 10 and 10 after signing a 6 year contract. Keon Clark who helps bolster an already strong frontcourt in Utah is doing well in a reserve role for the Jazz.

TURMOIL IN SAC-TOWN

A fight broke out in Sacramento’s ‘friendly’ scrimmage as Peja Stojakovic and Chris Webber started wrestling each other on the ground. The players were fighting for a rebound when Peja knocked Webber in the jaw and started the fight. The two players have been secretly feuding for the past two months after Peja called Webber soft and lazy in training.

The two were separated and suffered minor bruising. The two should be alright to play in their encounter with the Los Angeles Lakers.

ARTEST TO LAY LOW IN LA

Dec 16, Los Angeles – Lakers Forwards Lamar Odom and Jumaine Jones were traded today to the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers sent defensive stopper Ron Artest and forward Austin Chroshere in return.

The 6’10” Odom who publicly demanded a trade early this week and asked management the same question two weeks ago in private was granted his wish. “I couldn’t trust myself in LA with all the things going on. I didn’t want to get back into drugs,” Odom told a beat writer after hearing the news. He also said it was the best for both parties as the Lakers have won five straight games and played their two best games with Odom out, injured.

The forward is averaging 16.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg and 3.3 apg, reasoned that his and Bryant’s games didn’t mesh like the Lakers management had anticipated and suggested that the team looked for a player who would be effective playing alongside Bryant. “I knew I was ineffective for this team because Kobe and I play similar styles of ball.” General Manager Will Sit acknowledged the fact, “Lamar and Kobe just haven’t hit that point of chemistry where they start dominating.”

Odom was traded along with the expendable Jumaine Jones, who has made minimal impact in a Lakers rotation which featured four small forwards. The fact that fellow players Devean Geroge, Caron Butler had shown signs of being able to back each other up at the 3 led to Los Angeles being able to confidently give up Lamar and Jones together.

Reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Ron Artest will join the Los Angles Lakers in late April when he completes his four month jail term. In a statement he released from his jail cell he talked about how he was honoured to be able to play alongside Bryant whom he had respect for.

GM Will Sit said he was certain that Artest and Bryant would be the future duo to dominate the league. “I’m not comparing them to MJ and Pippen but these two will certainly have an effect on most of the rest of the league. However, I don’t think Ron will make an appearance in Yellow and Purple until next season” The 6’7” Artest would, as long as he maintains his form through his stint in black and white, provide instant defence and an aggressive approach to other Lakers opponents. The other Pacers player involved in the deal Austin Chroshere was included for financial reasons as his 8, 000, 000 dollar contract expires this season.

The reason made by Sit for dealing Odom to Indiana was because Odom would be able to fit in the Pacers’ game plan and fill in for the injured Stephen Jackson and also fill in the void Artest left after being prosecuted.

Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant was unavailable for comment.

wow... it might happen in real life since as i said in nba talk forum, bryant and odom have a little chemistry compared to bryant and butler...

then come april you will have artest and bryant, two defensive wingmen defenders plus butler coming from the bench..

lokking good for the your Lakers.

Just hoping Artest wont start a fight in prison

LAKERS WIN SIX STRAIGHT SACRAMENTO

Los Angeles Lakers 111 @ Sacramento Kings 103

Dec 17, Los Angeles - The Lakers won their sixth straight game against Division rivals Sacramento last night in a Western Conference shootout. The team's 39-35 fourth quarter matchup provided ARCO Arena fans with many lead changes but the Lakers held on to win it in the last two minutes of regulation.

Kobe Bryant had 40 points and 8 rebounds as he recieved plenty of help from his whole team. Luke Walton and Chucky Atkins both came off the bench at the point guard positions to try to earn merit for their lost starting spots. Atkins impressed with his shooting while Walton had 2 successive steals in a Lakers scoring run. Austin CHroshere, a pickup in the Ron Artest - Lamar Odom trade was magnificent down the stretch scoring all of his 8 points in a decisive run to end the game.

Peja Stojakavic made the most of his foul troubled 16 minutes by scoring 12 points on 5-7 shooting but was for the second game against the Lakers, sat out due to fouls. Chris Webber led the Kings with 15 points and 13 rebounds including 7 offensive boards and fellow big man Brad Miller was quiet, scoring inside constantly and finished with 16 points.

Kobe Bryant who was unstoppable in the fourth quarter with 17 points and 6 rebounds clearly kept the Lakers in the game. "I was feeling it after my teammates lost their focus. I was lucky Austin was able to help win it." Chroshere was earned instant merit points by helping the Lakers win the game with his late surge. "My first game as a Laker and I did so well. It feels pretty awesome."

The Lakers coaches were impressed with Chroshere as he had only landed in Sacramento 4 hours prior to tipoff where he went straight to ARCO Arena and waited to be joined by the Lakers.

Peja and Chris Webber who were reported to be having problems played sub-par and didn't seem to pass to eachother often. Doug Christie who had recently returned from the Injured List helped limit Laker opponent Devean Geroge to 4-13 shooting and had scored a team high 17 points. A player who had once scuffled with former Lakers opponent Rick Fox, the defensive stalwat took his game against Fox's friend.

"I remeber that fight in the tunnel two years ago. Where's Fox by the way?" Christie asked reporters. When told Fox had retired he answered back, "Really? I'm so behind socially."

With 2:21 left in the match and Sacramento leading at 99-100, Chroshere scored 8 straight. With 0:46 left, the Lakers then lead 107-100 but let Mike Bibby score a three pointer to cut the lakers lead to 107-103. Kobe Bryant sank four free throws to end the game as Sacramento ran out of answers.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

NOTES: Lakers C/F Slava Medvedenko scored a season high 10 rebounds along with 8 points off the bench in 23 minutes... Caron Butler didn't much of an impact in the 29 minutes he played finishing on 6 points... Kareem Rush scored a jumper over Doug Christie at the buzzer at the end of the first half and recieved a standing ovation... Brad Miller has started to recieve more recognition as the Center for the Kings and leads Yao Ming in All-star balloting... The Lakers lead the Kings 2-0 in their Regular Season match-ups...

LAKERS WINNING STREAK SNAPPED

Washington Wizards 92 @ Los Angeles Lakers 77

Dec 18, Los Angeles - For the second game in four starts, Devean Geroge led the Lakers in scoring while Kobe Bryant had his second triple double of the season. The Lakers were toppled by the Washington Wizards behind 24 points from Antawn Jamison and 19 from Larry Hughes.

The Lakers failed to extend their winning streak to seven after an embarrasing first half before George caught fire, scoring 16 of his 20 points in the third quarter. The Lakers came back at Washington behind a 27-11 effort in the third before being blown away in the last half of the final quarter.

Caron Butler had another unimpressive outing, picking up 5 personal fouls and only scoring 4 points on 2-8 shooting in 29 minutes. Bryant was worse being 6-16 from the field and missed two layups early in the final quarter. He also had 5 turnovers. "I had another disappointing night, whether or not I got the other 12 rebounds and 11 assists, I still shot horrible," Bryant said after the game.

Antawn Jamison needed only two quarters alongside Larry Hughes to build a huge lead in front of the Lakers as they combined for 39 of the Wizards 55 first half points. As coach Eddie Jordan let them sit out the start of the Third, LA caught up and Jamison and Hughes came back on to try to stop them.

However, the Wizards found their saviour in Gilbert Arenas who scored 11 fourth quarter points and had two jumpshots late in the game which widened the Wizards lead to 88-74 with 2:31 left.

After Arenas launched his second jumpshot that ended the Wizard's late 11-0 surge, Arenas raised his finger in the air while hearing boos from the STAPLES center crowd. "I forgot we were visiting! I was so hyped up about winning that I forgot we were in another city!" Arenas told post game reporters.

BRYANT BRILLIANT BUT LAKERS BLASTED AWAY

Memphis Grizzlies 122 @ Los Angeles Lakers 97

Dec 21, Los Angeles - Kobe Bryant had back-to-back triple doubles and may go for a third one in the Lakers' next game against the New Orleans Hornets. Bryant filled up his statsheet with 41 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and added 2 steals. However his performance alone including a 17 point fourth quarter couldn't help his team over the surging Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis recieved 26, 14 and 5 blocks from Spaniad Pau Gasol, 21 points from Mike Miller and 12 points from Shane Battier off the bench. The Grizzlies shot over 50% from the field and also went to the free throw line twice as much as the Lakers did.

The Grizzlies' up-tempo game destroyed the Lakers in the first quarter as Memphis took a 18-0 lead within 5 minutes. Los Angeles never got any closer to catching up to Memphis and suffered one of their most lob-sided losses of the season.

"The guys just weren't in the 'groove' today," A Lakers assistant coach told Bill Walton who was courtside, "Kobe was magnificent and really took over in the Second Half because his teammates weren't playing too well." Bryant who scored his 40th point on a free throw left the game with 1:56 remaining in the game for his first rest of the night. The whole STAPLES crowd gave him a standing ovation. "One of my best games this season but our team still lost," He said slowly afterwards, "I hope we can pull it all together by Christmas Day."

Grizzlies' star Pau Gasol commented on the noise of the arena, "When they (Crowd) all stood up for Bryant, I stood up too because we (Bench) believe he is one of the best players this League has today." Shooting Guard Bonzi Wells agreed with Gasol's analysis, "Kobe is a special player. In a few years, depending on how he develops he could be dominating."

The Lakers failed to win any quarters but still had plenty of highlight reel material including Devean Geroge's breakaway dunk which he levitated off the floor and spun 360 degrees before hanging for a split second above the rim and slamming the ball in the hoop. "That dunk brang so much noise!" the Lakers' Caron Butler commented.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

NOTES: The Shaq/Kobe rivalry heated up even more after Shaquille O'neal and Gary Payton both sat down in an interview after Boston's 94-88 win over Miami. The two commented on Bryant's ego and blamed him for losing to Detroit last season... Kobe Bryant's new friend Vlade Divac is looking forward to playing Miami statiung that it was their team's chance to protect Bryant... Random Guy, 54 was awarded free tickets for the rest of the season after hitting a halfway shot during halftime...

Hooray for Random Guy! 54 tickets to a Laker game is like a quarter of a million dollars! I'd have to say to Mr. Payton....you seemed pretty tentative through out the Finals there, at least Bryant was willing step up to the plate... too bad he fell flat on hit face(with the exception of Game 2)

Sit, keep up the good work, I'd recommend resizing your pics so you don't have to wait all day with 56k. I think if you crop your pics to most important aspects ...it'll be a bit more effective.

ROck on...looking foward to more updates!

TRIPLE DOUBLE TRIFECTA TOO HOT HORNETS TO HANDLE

New Orleans Hornets 94 @ Los Angeles Lakers 106

Nov 23, Los Angeles - Not since 1999 did any player achieve three straight triple doubles after Forward Grant Hill did it. Several have come close like Kobe Bryant in 2002 and Bob Sura late last season but they didn't complete the feat.

Last night, shooting guard Kobe Bryant had 33 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to become the latest player to have completed this task. And unlike the past two games, the Lakers won this one behind Kobe's fourth quarter 19 point effort to pull away from the Hornets in the final two minutes of the game.

Baron Davis scored 27 points for the visitors and received little contributioon from the rest of his squad.

"The two games we lost were hard but tonight we were able to support Kobe and battle for the win," Captain Vlade Divac said, "We can't wait to go up against Mimai in two days!" Divac had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks to help lead the Laker roleplayers which saw Brian Grant with 10 and 10 and Chuck Atkins reinserted into the Starting Five to score 14 points.

The Lakers and the Hornets played hard at the start with New Orleans' Baron Davis scoring 12 first quarter points. Trouble struck when Kobe Bryant blocked Davis' three pointer near the end of the First period. Bryant did a Mutombo finger wave before retreating downcourt. A clearly upset Davis went after Bryant and Los Angeles' coach Rudy Tomjanovic called a timeout. Hornets' Geroge Lynch pulled Baron Davis aside to calm him down as Rudy T told Bryant to let the game do the talking.

"I could see in Davis' body movement he clearly took it seriously and so I called a timeout just in case," Tomjanovic explained his actions.

Bryant determined to beat Davis limited the Point Guard to 1 of 5 in the second quarter and then 1 of 7 in the final period and also included another block in the fourth quarter's dying moments. The Second quarter witnessed the Lakers falling behind by 2 but in an inspiring series of defensive stops, LA was able to hold a 6 point advantage at the half. Caron Butler recorded three of his five steals on three consecutive plays.

Darrel Armstrong who turned the ball over twice to Butler commented, "We were just not careful protecting the ball and losing the ball those three times broke our own run."

New Orleans trailed the most of the third quarter by 2 points until the last 4 minutes. They used a 9-0 run capped off by a Baron Davis three pointer to pull ahead for the final break.

The Fourth Quarter saw several lead changes and ties and after 9 minutes of scores going up, the final stage was set for Bryant to take over the game single handedly. When Rodney Rogers scored two threes, Chucky Atkins answered with a shot from downtown of his own to tie the game 89-89. Jamall Maglorie dunked the ball at ther other end and was fouled.

Unluckily, he suffered a twisted ankle and left the game with 2:03 left. After Chris Anderson completed the three-point play and the Hornets up 92-89, it seemed their fortunes changed staright away.

Kobe Bryant went down the other end and passed to a wide open Salva Medvedenko who sunk the 5 foot jumper. Bryant then stole the ball and was fouled, sending him to the line for two. He missed his first shot but made no mistake for the last 11 attempts he had from the charity stripe. After a minute and a half, the Lakers had a 13-0 run and a 102-92 lead.

"It feels great to win this one in front of the home crowd," Braynt said, "We always aim to win and tonight was special because it was a good win!"

NOTES: Jack Nicholson was seen holding a sign which read, "Kobe Rocks!" and when asked about it he wrote a reply, "Can't speak- saving my voice for Miami!"... Rudy T was asked whtether he had any plans for Nicholson and replied, "I don't but maybe GM does because why else would they give that nut a seat behind the visiting bench?"... ESPN will be aring a special segment on Christmas Eve about Kobe and Shaq at 8:00 pm EST... Bob Sura missed out on doing what Bryant did tonight after his 10th rebound was disallowed by the League...

Nice updates dude, great 3 TD for Kobe, good to see him leading the team.

Nice trade for Artest and I like that you are sitting him for the season.

Good Work
