Badger's NBA Live 08 Fixes/Renovations - NEW Widescreen Update Released

Hi everyone,

Long time no see. I started to learn concepts of reverse engineering and it opens a lot of pathways to further edit these old games. The first thing I had in my mind was changing the fixed aspect ratio that only fit 4:3 monitors.
I found the function and the address that determines aspect ratio, changed the value from 4:3 to 16:9 and it worked! No clipping at left and right boundaries too as Field of view is also calculated based on provided aspect ratio. Here are some screenshots.






Now I am researching to add more resolutions to the game. When it's done, I will publish this fix with instructions and hopefully for NBA Live 2004, 2005, 06, 07 too.

yeah, I think we can figure out a lot of stuff here.

the thing is these fixes work with certain executables. I failed to run original disc version in Windows 11 so I had to download a fixed executable. with permission from Andrew now, the executables are available for 2005-06-07-08, I will make these changes available with the exe's available in Downloads Center

Update: There is still some clipping but I am looking for a solution. However the changes will not require any hex editing anymore and the install will be pretty easy. Just stay tuned.

imho, full hd 1920x1080 16:9 aspect ratio for nba live 2004-08 is the most anticipated fix and most needed one.

i truly hope you and others from discord will manage to make it, at least for some of those games i mentioned.

I remember there were simengine fixes. Do they solve the problem?

Not really, we were never able to pin down the exact values and ideal changes.

We have new updates ladies and gentlemen!

I fixed aspect ratio for UI components and provided a custom resolution for the menus. Therefore you don't need to run the game in 640x480 as you can change the resolution. Please re download both windowed mode and widescreen plugin, as their contents are merged into one ini file instead of separate ones.

The new version of the widescreen and resolution plugin is released. This plugin fixes;

- Position & scale of loadbar for 2005, 06, 07, 08
- Position & scale of player model at creation zone for 2005, 06, 07, 08
- Functionality to enable/disable intro videos for 2005, 06, 07, 08
- Scale of movies for 2005 and 06 (if you want intros and widescreen together, iceman made amazing intro videos in 1920x1088, get them here)
