switching teams?

Mon Nov 08, 2004 9:36 am

i know this might just be a dumb question, but since so much has changed from 2004, i was wondering if someone could check to see if there is now a way to switch teams DURING a dynasty (by dbf editing, whatever)

Mon Nov 08, 2004 10:00 am

I think if you badly, like finish last in the league then they'll fire you and you switch teams.

Mon Nov 08, 2004 10:38 am

yeah if thats the case, is there a way to edit or "hack" it so that you can go back to your original team? That happens sometimes in these games... you build a team of young phenoms and they are just ONE year away. You spend hours and hours putting that team together and then BAM... you're fired. Any way to get that team back after you've been fired??

Mon Nov 08, 2004 11:16 am

well i know about getting fired or hired by another team, i just meant like after a few years if i wanted my created player to sign with another team, and i follow him there as GM...i know it's been brought up for 2004 and no luck.

Tue Nov 09, 2004 7:08 am

Anyone know? Can you edit the dbf files? I actually have my game saved right before they fire me... is there a way i can shut that off sot hey don't fire me?

Tue Nov 09, 2004 7:10 am

Also if your team is doing well in the league, another team (in my case the Wizards) will offer you a deal and they give you 10,000 dynasty and store points if you do accept.

Tue Nov 09, 2004 7:30 am

Is there any way for me to edit these DBF files to prevent myself from being fired?

Tue Nov 09, 2004 10:55 am

Isn't there still an option in Dynasty Settings to switch off the GM Evaluation? If so, you can generally switch it on and off after you begin the Dynasty.

hey andrew- any clue about that original question?

I haven't tried it yet, but as it didn't work in NBA Live 2004 I'm skeptical. The procedure would be the same as we discussed last year, whether it works this year or not is another matter.

To switch teams (NBA Live 2005 PC): go into the Team.dbf and change the ISHUMAN field to the team you want (make sure you set your old team to 0 in the ISHUMAN field). If you have Access, you can edit any of the tables by linking the tables. The tables are stored in your SAVE directory.

This is also a great way to watch other games your team isn't playing in, like the playoffs and finals.

Would this allow you to control multiple teams?

i try this. i made all team ishuman to true and i can reorder roster and offer trade but the computer still decide if he will accept it or not. and if you release let say iverson. the news will say lakers(or your orginal team) release iverson

Interesting find. So we can manipulate the league exactly the way we want it?

Wed Nov 10, 2004 7:08 am

you can only play your team game though.

and to cocobee yes we can manipulte the whole dynasty but there a (what you called this) an effect for doing that. as i remember read it someone do it in live 04. he change it back to all ishuman false except his team then computer wont will never made a cpu to cpu again for the rest of the dynasty.

I have a question:

example: say after the 2008 season in my dynasty, i decide i want my created player to change teams, and i want to keep playing with him....i'm the nets now, say i want him to go to the lakers. could i change ishuman to 0 for the nets, and change ishuman (would it be to "1"?) for the lakers, and play as the lakers (and the nets would become cpu?)?

another question:
i try this. i made all team ishuman to true and i can reorder roster and offer trade but the computer still decide if he will accept it or not. and if you release let say iverson. the news will say lakers(or your orginal team) release iverson

so does this mean that if i wanted to negotiate a trade between two cpu teams, i could edit them both to ishuman, just to make the trade, and then switch them back to cpu teams?

Wed Nov 10, 2004 9:40 am

my bad iwas talking more about live 04.

well to make it clear, i try changing 1 team to ishuman to true. i release players and it now said the right team.

example:
my original team was lakers i change bucks to ishuman to 1 and release haislip. it will now say Bucks released haislip.[/quote]

i try trading with my lakers and bucks which i both controlling. nothings happen coz no one will reply since i control both.

example:
i propose a trade to lakers redd and 1st pick to lakers brown (try to rip the bucks lol) then after few day of sim PDA dont beep.

i try messing up DBF and il post here some update. okey.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
here's some update.....

i try this one and it works. i was able to control both lakers and clippers and trade brand, brunson and 1st round pick for grant. well with some dbf editting ans sim a few day, PDA beep and said a major trade approved:

In a move to shake up their rosters, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers have completed a major trade. Elton Brand, Rick Brunson, 1st Round Pick (LAC) and Brian Grant will report to their new teams shortly

with the above trade, cheaters will have a great time ripping others team by getting good players or dumping salaries.

also about the questions with switching team well you can but not complete. you can control new teams like your own team, making any transactions, you can play your new team schedule game.

so now your asking why it is not complete. and here's the answer

PDA will still post message from your previous team.
example. original team: lakers new team: clippers
you will receive lakers players injury update. Power ranking of lakers, and if you trade you wont receive from other team esp when they decline it.

thats all for now. try to mess it the dbf again.

thanks alot for the info, man (Y) very helpful.

Follow a created player

Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:49 pm

I proposed a lock player dynasty mode for the 2006 wish list, where you'd follow a player rather than be connected to a team. You'd play locked as that player, and be responsible to practice in the offseason, find an agent, etc. Basically play the game through the player's eyes throughout his career.

It didn't make it into the wish list.

Fri Jan 14, 2005 4:04 pm

wow that was one hell of a bump, especially for something that doesn't have anything to do with the original topic..... :o

Way off

but, after a year PDA becomes ok, i can recieve my team's news. So, I think something that we don't know happens in .dbf.
