Point guards

Sun Oct 31, 2004 5:50 am

hey guys, am i the only one having problem with stopping CPU point guards?no matter who is at point, i can't guard him..he just dribbles past me and then layups the ball..last time, terry scored 45 on me (dirk had only about 15) or t. delk had 29..hell, francis scored 52 when i played east-west...it's just not reality..CPU always has less assists then me (about 3)..it is really annoying..is anyone experiencing the same problem?..

iff you play aginst the cpu allways the pg has most points

I'm guessing your going for the steal all the time, that could be one of the reasons.
Just try to block his patch and push him back.

Try playing as the center/power forward when you're on defense rather than the point guard.

yeah i tried and it kinda worked  ..i do go for a steal everytime (a habbit from nba 2004)..i just got to adapt to new gamestyle..thanks

What are your sliders, and how are you approaching defense against the PG's, I played the Pistons yesterday 12 mins, and Billups too 12 shots, was 5-12, and had 15 points.

Played the Bobcats, and Jason Hart took 7 shots, and was 2-7, don't hack at the steal button the most steals in the NBA was 9.7 by Memphis, so if you're playing like 5 mins, you should only be getting about 4 steals a game anyways.

I'm starting to get better defending on ball. What I do is get low. If he's at the perimeter and starts dribbling fancy, back up a little (not a lot or he might pull up) and just try to anticipate him, and get in his path and you two should bump. I can stop the PG's pretty much now. :D

Same as last year.

Charlie Ward took 14 shots on me last night 5 were pull up threes. I am disappointed in the lack of playcalling again. It is all quick plays. I wish EA would re-impliment Live 2000 CPU playcalling.

Claxton finished with 31 points on me, although I had something like 7 blocks with Kaman, 5 blocks with Brand and 3 with N'diaye.
And almost all of them finished with 4 or more fouls.

Only because of Claxton and Fisher, who finished with somthing like 18 points, too.

Lower PG primacy. Put it at 0. Works well.

you mean lower every point guards primacy? :? ..well i'm too lazy to do such thing..

There is a slide button, it puts the defender in a better and more stable position. Try that if you didnt do it (Y)

could double team more often to stop him? maybe trade for a better defending pg? once i stopped going for the steal so much i have been stopping the comps pg alot more. with the pg speed if i reach and miss they blow by me(realistic) and usually get the bucket.

It is realistic, except as the defender, it's a little too excessive cuz you're actually running in the opposite direction after the point guard blows by you.

If you're Detroit, you don't have to worry about point guards when the Wallaces are in the paint ;)

dude, they made ben wallace a beast, and i dont mean on defense, i mean offensively. he scored like 30 points on me, just could not stop him. thats a bit much but whatever, made the game fun.

That won't really change it, and not every PG, becaus Baron and Stephon should be shooting, just don't make their offensive awareness to high, makes them also look for their shot more.

i think better d forces the pg to pass the ball. they did very good in making the game where if you slack off for even a second you will be beat. in the nba it is this way, you cant make a mistake on defense or any pg is gonna blow right by you.

See I don't have a hard time stopping Point Guard's from scoring.....in fact I don't find it too hard to stop the CPU at all.

Ward went 3-14 shooting against me and the CPU had 6 assists total as a team.

I blew them out 96-77 default rosters with Seatle.

The lack of playcalling makes this game way to easy.

My point is that with the lack of playcalling the CPU takes some really stupid shots and makes them easy to beat just like last year.
