Perhaps Melo will be encouraged to stay. CP3 probably won't be.

Knicks complete blockbuster trade for Paul

Chris Paul's days are officially up in New Orleans, joining LeBron James in New York to create a formidable force in the Big Apple for years to come. Additionally, the Hornets also leviated David West in order to make way for David Lee to take the starting role, as the Pacers boosted their PF stocks as they make a playoff push. The Hornets managed to also secure exciting wingman Wilson Chandler & Chris Duhon from the Knicks, as well as their 1st round pick this offseason. The Knicks are officially all-in on creating a championship winning team, with the influence of LeBron James on the front office undeniable.
Bobcats push "GO" button, trade for Hamilton

With the Pistons wallowing at the bottom of the Conference, the Bobcats pounced on seasoned veteran SG Richard Hamilton to strengthen their campaign towards a Championship, pairing with Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler, the Bobcats seem to be well on their way to being a true contender. The Pistons Gordon/Villanueva experiment will be a true test now, with Ben Gordon being put in the drivers seat to lead the Pistons in scoring, while having a young prospect in Gerald Henderson to sculpt.
Cavaliers continue to clean house, send Williams to Toronto/Varejao to Chicago

The Cavaliers are in complete rebuild mode, clearing out large contracts by sending Mo Williams to the Raptors for Jarrett Jack, and Anderson Varejao to Chicago for John Salmons. The Bulls add a strong second presence in the frontcourt behind Joakim Noah, as Williams looks to boost the offense of the Raptors as they make their playoff run.
Pierce & Allen sign on for another year in Beantown

Currently sitting on top of the Eastern Conference, the Celtics have doubled down on their Big 3 for another year, looking to make it back to the top of the mountain this year and hopefully next.

Pressure mounting on Durant, Thunder to make postseason
After such a close finish to the postseason last year, the Thunder are feeling the pressure to not make the same mistake of leaving their run too late. With arguably one of the most exciting rosters in the entire league, featuring scoring leader Kevin Durant, the city of Oklahoma is demanding some playoff action.
Magic & Heat begin ascent up East Ranks
Despite a less than optimal start to their campaigns, the two teams of Florida currently sit just inside the Playoff picture. With both boasting strong stars in Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire & Vince Carter, their star leadership is expected to sit them comfortably in the postseason over the next few months.

I've been thinking of a What If roster for NBA 2K11 as a tie-in for a Friday Five article, one of which would involve LeBron James and Chris Bosh going to New York as Jalen Rose predicted. If so, I think you've got the right idea with Amar'e Stoudemire going to the Heat, so I might have to borrow that scenario!

In any case, big win for the Heat, being on the bubble as they are.

For now, no signs of Amare committing to Heat beyond this season at the moment!
Think another one is obviously Wade to Chicago also.

Definitely another possibility, especially in an alternate timeline...and the fact that it did happen eventually, of course.
