Talk about NBA 2K21 here.

Hi,
Haven't got a clue why it's happened but create a player won't work at all, it just crashes my game, in that it is on an endless loading screen.
Therefore any real players who don't have scanned in faces, are un-editable and appear invisible on the court when games are played.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or if I've done anything wrong? I have the genuine game and it's updated to the most recent patch.

Do you have mods installed? If so, have you tried renaming or removing the mods folder to see if the problem is fixed?

Man, I've got tonnes of mods installed, no problems with them at least. I've renamed the mods folder just now with no difference. Just removed the folder and still no difference. Still not showing created players and any attempt to edit is putting me on "eternal loading". Cheers for replying, any suggestions?

Try to remove any plugins as well to see if that is the cause (whether it be hook, or reshade, etc)
If that does not work, try verifying your game cache through Steam, this will normally fix/replace missing or corrupted files.
Lastly, delete your sync.bin and allow your game to recreate it when you launch the game again. Make sure to back up your sync.bin just in case

Thanks mate, problem solved! Really appreciate, I don't know which of those steps sorted it but one of them certainly did. Cheers for taking the time. I need to brush up on my technology!
