PBA Basketball Slam

Mon Aug 17, 2020 12:52 pm

I saw an ad for an NBA Jam style game made for the PBA. I wonder if it's any good

Might be worth checking out.

I downloaded this yesterday, its definitely an NBA Jam clone. Love the taglish (tagalog-english) commentary. They even have an online 3 point contest. This game makes you wish there was an updated NBA jam for the current or next season. Great job by the developer. This was an improvement from their previous PBA Slam app that is no longer available (or supported).

Picked it up along with Dunk Lords, but haven't had a chance to play either yet.

I wrote a Steam review about the gameplay, and it received a nice developer response which I really appreciated.

The game was roughly $3 for me, and I think pricing it that way was a smart move by the developer. They understand that it's in early access, and is not complete yet. Glad I have it in my library, and it does have potential.

The developer not only responded directly to my feedback, but they also implemented most of the changes I suggested in a patch (two days ago).

The are still working on a couple other items I mentioned (Possibly adding a turbo button, stamina bar, fixing the awkward player looking at the screen issue etc). But I was incredibly happy with the positive response, and the quick turnaround. The game is in early access, but the patch they just put through made a BIG difference to the quality of the gameplay. The game now feels a lot more like arcade hoops.... faster, more fun, better flow with less interruptions.

I made a gameplay video of it post patch. Will the game be fore everybody? no... is it as good as Jam? Obviously not... but for $5 to support the developer (Who LISTENS to feedback and implements suggestions?) totally. it will also have decent depth, including online play, a campaign mode, etc.
