How to open iff files + view game files?

Postby Masai on Wed Apr 29, 2020 9:28 am

Hi,

What program/tool would I have to use to open up .iff files that are supported by the game? I've tried opening in Photoshop but it doesn't let me. Also on top of that, how do I view files that are already in the game?

Thank you!

People say 7zip works. Found out that you can open iff files with WinRAR as well.

I've tried opening files in both 7zip and WinRAR, but it just opens in a wall of text in Notepad. Is there a way of viewing the actual dds or image?

You have to right click the png file and go to 7zip, open archive. Or right click and go to properties a choose opens with 7zip

After I do that, it says I don't have an app associated with the file to open it, that's the problem I'm having. How do I go in and view those files? Sorry for the questions, I'm fairly new to this :(

Thats why you should manually select 7zip then. If you don't already have 7zip installed, go download and install it.

@Andrew how about we make a thread only for questions and answers?like a FAQ ..that would be terrific ..every question is very important of course but I am not sure if it requires a thread ..what do u think ?

In the "Setting Up" part of a guide I created, I gave a tutorial on how to use 7zip and change the defaults for dds files, so you can open them. I think it should help answer most of the questions in this thread

Hey Guys!

Has anyone been able to open 2k20 .iff files lately? I cannot. I was trying to pull out a SCNE file from a player (8643 to be exact) so I could convert to 2k19. 1) those files won't come out of the .iff.

as stated above, open it using 7zip/winrar. Then, just drag the SCNE.file out to your destination folder.

I think what he is trying to say is how do we "view/preview" a file. Which I'm not sure if we can do that or you may have to do it in blender or whatever.

For example, I think he knows how to get all the files and use 7zip to see whats in it but to actually look at it like a picture I think thats what he wants to know.

That isn't working, actually. I am getting an error when dragging the SCNE file out of the iff. I also asked TGsoGood and he was getting an error too.

I don't get this error with modded CFs in my waigua folder.....only ones from the game itself.

Can someone upload the cyberfaces for AJ English, Felton Spencer, Michael Cage, Terry Catledge, Terry Davis, and Willie Anderson to NBA 2k20 download section of this forum. I would greatly appreciate it. This way I can download and replace created players with these cyberfaces. Thanks for your help in advance!

So I was able to move the file out using my gaming laptop with no issues. I didn't get the error at all. No idea why I'd have this problem on my desktop but not my laptop. So, assume that means an issue with 7zip?
