Any trick to getting the eyes to remain "set" in the head and not move around?

D, that usually happens when the eyes are moved way off from his original position. What I do to be sure they're not is, once I have the new model ready, I import again the original model, and compare the eyes position (X,Z and principally Y). If they are too far away from his original position, I move all the new head to the point it gets closer or almost at the same Y,Z,X position as original eyes are,

And by the way, when you convert 2K17 faces, you said it's going great. How is it going with the mouth cavity? Is it good at the position it should be, or is it below, because that's what happens to me with all the ones that I tried. Also, eyes and ears don't glitch?

Yup, pretty tedious but very well worth it for a perfect conversion. Thanks for the tutorial!

Thanks for the video tutorial, but i have a question on the video 21:13 ,i conver 2k19 to 2k20 in the first is ok but the vertex group are not same like your video not much item ,did i miss something important :?:

The problem is that 2k18-2k19 beard doesn't work for me in 2k20......while hair they work.

Can you just give us some detailed info about import 2k18-19 beard into 2k20?

Thanks in advance

Copy the "Prim" section from the special hihead.scne file he provided and replace the "Prim" section in the NBA 2K20 player hihead.scne with it. When you load your 2K20 player, the vertex groups will now match.

Mouth is fine. I move it back a bit and it sits in place, that part was really easy. Its the eyes that I am having issues with as far as making them SET in place. However, I will try the tips provided above. Below is the my Wilt Chamberlain that I converted from 2K17 to 2K20 - I made updates to the texture and still need top finalize the facial hair, but I like how it came over and how it is coming out.

How were you able to do the mesh data transfer without the geometry of the mouth and/or ears, etc. looking messed up?

Re: Cyberface Conversion + Tutorial, Links, and info

Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:16 am

So, I'm starting to question something.

This Chamberlain IS mine from 2K17, but it's one that I edited and converted from 2K18 (default chamberlain). So let me see if I can break this down

1. I converted the Default Chamberlain from 2K18 to 2K17
2. Edited the texture, head shape, body
3. Now converted the 2K17 PNG and Face file from 2K17 to 2K20.

Could that be why it's working so well? Because its originally 2K18 to 2K17, followed by 2K17 to 2K20?

I'll try with a 2K17 original next. Sorry for any confusion.

Note: I still cant get the eyes to set, and an unsure where you guys are finding/editing the eye coordinates.

Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:31 am

Oh it's not from 2K17, that's why. Yes. It has the 2K18 uv map which is exactly the same as 2k20
Thank you.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion... I am about to try an original 2K17 to 2K20 conversion.... let's see how that goes....

When I look at the differences between the UV maps 2K17 -> any game after, I can see a pretty direct correlation between certain parts of the UV Map that have a noticeable difference in their location compared to 2K17 UV map (where the mouth opening is, where the eye opening is, etc.) and the areas that get messed up when doing the data transfer.

I'm wondering if it's not so much an issue that we don't have the exact same coordinates or even number of coordinates, but that one UV map generally resembles the other. For instance, the neck, nose, and other parts of the face seem to transfer over perfectly when using the mesh data transfer on a 2K17 player. Even though the 2K17 player has way fewer vertices for the blendHeadShape group and the UV coordinates are more spaced out.

I successfully import a 2k18 beard to 2k20 with drag n drop but in player edit menu, the beard is moving a bit idk why

Yes!! it's weird that everything else from the model comes out perfect... being a different UV map, you expect almost everything to glitch. Blender 2.8 has an option to copy UV maps, I tried to do it, before I did erase / unwrap the 2K20 uv map, but then when I copied the 2K17 model, they're just too few points / coordinates to fill. So this is also a key point.

I also did another experiment, before transfering the shape, I imported the 2K17 model, put it in edit mode, then upload a 2k20 face.color file in UV/image editor mode, and tried to UV sculpt and adjust the mouth cavity, eyes, nose and ears of the 2K17 model to the 2k20 face.color texture. Then exported it, and try the shape transfer. Mouth was correctly displayed, but it still glitched.

Please note...we can go forward 2k17->2k20 and backward 2k20->2k17
2K18, 2K19, and 2K20 have the same UV layout for face textures so the face.iffs are interchangeable.
