NLSC Community Basketball Game Project Developed in PS4 Dreams

Hi everyone as I mentioned in the NLSC Podcast episode #269 the community project I had been thinking about for a few months.

It would be a basketball video game created entirely in the PS4 Game Dreams by Media Molecule the beta is available now to try.
This Game is also an engine that allows people to collaborate and create games, music, music videos, stories and collate assets from other users it also supports VR on PSVR.

We would require people who can create:
- animations
- uniforms and accessories
- player models
- environments (stadiums, courts indoor or outdoor)
- lighting
- scriptors
- music and other audio

Realistic expectations of development time could be over a year given it will take people a few months get get used to the creation tools and create concept art/prototypes.
This project could benefit anyone who is wanting to get in to games development giving them something for portfolio and experience using an engine and its tools.
We can create a game with no microtransactions or shady grind mechanics a game that would be fun and not feel like a chore to play.

- Type of game is entirely up to us whether we go for a sim type game or arcade based
- Realistic art style or stylistic art style
- 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 (though have a feeling it could be an 8 person limit)
- We could create our own story/career mode

Here are a few videos and interviews about the game to get familiar and understanding of what Dreams can do:

This is really cool, I'll be following closely. I havn't looked into the tool yet myself, but it looks promising. I bought RPGMAKER for my brother awhile back, but this looks like it will blow that away.

Not sure the limitations, or customization. But, I am guessing they tread lightly around copyright issues. A lot of cool music myself or my brother would like to add to a potential game (Clean music). I'm also curious to see what limitations exist with the art work (And what customization can be done).

Basketball game wise, I still think 5 on 5 (With customization abilities) would be the way to go. However, making a full court 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 game that fixes many of the complaints people have with NBA Playgrounds would also be a viable option.

I think it needs to be different from the current offerings of today, so what could work is something old-school like Hoop Universe or I was thinking NBA Street Vol. 2 with current rosters would be a lot of fun

I'm no game developer by any stretch of the imagination but I do make games in Unity for myself. Mostly arcade style games. I'm working on a NBA Jam type game with current and old school rosters. If anyone would want to collaborate, let me know. Could always use an extra artist. This is some of the artwork I've made just hurridly messing around. Barkle/Wade/Jordan/Pippen.
