The team also issued a statement in response to Perlmutter's auction.

Like, they're not entirely wrong, but they still don't sound right making a statement like that. Given some of the childishness that Dolan has engaged in, it's hard for the organisation to maintain the moral high ground, even though they do have a point (and it's certainly not a bad move to praise the loyal fans who have turned on the guy).

For a bid to reach the attention of the CEO, they probably were amused by it, enough to let it pass.

According to an eBay spokesperson, the company's CEO, Devin Wenig, was tempted to bid on Perlmutter's auction and force him to remain with the Knicks. Wenig, a longtime Knicks fan, decided to stand down. Instead, he will offer four tickets to a game from StubHub for Perlmutter and Riedel, per the company spokesman.

Dude, how do you think we feel? New York is DYING for a real basketball team! Can you imagine how crazy this town would be if the Knicks we're on Philly, Milwaukee or Indiana's level? It'd be like the 90s when they were a perennial contender.

How crazy was new York when Linsanity hit? I had stopped watching basketball for a bit and that's what brought me back. Hell it even got them a new TV deal lol

Have to like the Knicks effort. It won't translate into many wins, because the talent isn't there yet.

I'm rooting for them this year. Even without Porzingis, they have shown great effort in all games so far. Down by 19 to the Bucks and came back only to end up without any gas left at the end.

This makes me ashamed to be a Knicks fan - some of these cats are pathetic, begging other team's stars to come here. Waste of money.

A billboard depicting Durant in a Knicks jersey went up on Thursday near Madison Square Garden ahead of the team's matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. The billboard, which faces the main entrance of the Garden, shows Durant standing beside Kristaps Porzingis and holding the Larry O'Brien trophy. It reads "Can you make NY sports great again" and includes Durant's social media handle @easymoneysniper and the hashtag #KDNY2019.

I stand corrected on the social media handle. Interesting they'd only choose that one to put on there, but nevertheless, I don't think it's going to be an effective recruiting tool. Hey, if the offer of free donuts and coffee wasn't enough to bring Tim Duncan to the Orlando Magic in 2000, I don't know what will sway a player to jump ship.
