2k is awulful when it comes to ratings when it comes to the legends

Mon Sep 17, 2018 12:42 pm

Does anyone know what formula 2k uses to do the legends attributes? Because every year the legends are more and more underrated while the current league players become more and more overrated. For example, I'm looking at spud webb from the 80s atlanta hawks. And they gave him a 48 lateral quickness. My god he was if not the fastest little man in basketball history for a guy under 5'8. Him and Muggsy Bogues and they gave him a 48 lateral quickness. No one on the current 76ers roster has a player who's lateral quickness is under 50 and that includes big men. To make it worst, there's not a single NBA player in the current NBA at the PG or SG position that has a lateral quickness under 50. So now once again i have to go through every key NBA player attributes and badges adjust them to make them more realistic. Which in 2k, 90 percent of the all stars and superstars are overrated. I do my attributes based on a all time standpoint. For example, the greatest rebounders of all time is Moses Malone, Dennis Rodman, Wilt, and Russell. So there shouldn't be a current NBA player who has a rebounding rating higher than 90. Because 90-99 is legendary status and no in todays nba is that good of a rebounder.

A few years back they were going with the "Hall of Fame" scale; in other words, if Rodman is a 99 in Offensive Rebounding, he's the bar for 99. However, it does seem they've drifted from that approach.

They should get rid of overall ratings. You don't need them in sports games. You don't pick up a player for your team because a player has a certain overall. You pick a player based on being good in certain spots your team needs. Like if I needed someone that could hit 3's from anywhere and could play good defense and is strong, I would pick Dan Marjerle. Also, it would make people actually have to watch the games. So, you can know what players are good at in real life and see it translate into the games. Sometimes I feel making a great simulation sports game is easy its just these devs want to keep everything dumb down. To maximize profit. I swear I think video games are pretty much dead. You go back to the early 2000s. You had like 5 or 6 different companies making a basketball and football game. Now there all gone. I wish we had this technology in the 90s. Video games would have been so much better.

Its not only rating, but also a lot of small details are missing or inaccurate with classic teams :?

i run theough and redo the retro attributes & tendencies every year. a good scale for attributes are 90, 80, 70, 60 and 50. grades of A, B, C, D & F, respectively. that's however not accurate for all attributes. tendencies should be on a scale of 1-25-50-75 & 99. u guys should check out simworld's (os) rating and tendency guides... it's interesting stuff. be sure to hover over all of the tabs for additional footnotes.

I like that Hall of Fame approach, since legends and hall of famers are in the game. It makes sense.

I like the concept as well. Like I said though, glancing at certain ratings, it seems like they've drifted from it a bit.
