NBA 2k19 Xbox One X Extended Gameplay

Didn't watch it in full yet but I noticed both Jordan Bell, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Javale Mcgee have accurate tattoos now, so hopefully, that is indicative of the finished product. Having more players with accurate tattoos is awesome so good on 2k.

Also, Luke Walton looks much improved! Maybe they face scanned the coaches?

Svi and Wagner were both scanned and look great. Hopefully the majority of drafted players were scanned.

Yeah just saw this too... what did they change? Usually there's clear distinct differences between every years rendition but this... you could fool me into thinking this was 2K18.

The individual playing is objectively bad...that being said while it plays similar to 2k18, I do think there may have been an attempt at remedying some of the problems. There were a couple times that a good defender like Igudola was able to cut off an individual driving to the lane. It could just be wishful thinking but I think they at least attempted to address the "olé defense" of 2k18. Rebounding seems to be more organic but again, this player was terrible so it is hard to tell if any of these problems were fixed, or they just didn't get fully exploited.

I saw MUCH more contact between players on this video than on 2k18. It's refreshing to see that. I even saw Ingram shut down Draymond when he was trying to drive to the basket because he antecipated his drive, despite Draymond being much stronger. On 2k18, that would be a guaranteed blowby. I'm liking it so far

Still seems to be some skating and ball warping, but I wasn't expecting perfection in that regard. It looks very much like NBA 2K18 - which isn't surprising or necessarily bad news - but it could well feel very different on the sticks. That's where all the improvements and legacy issues will really be apparent. There's only so much you can glean from watching someone else play, so I'll reserve judgement until I have hands-on time with The Prelude and full version.

I noticed during free throws that rather than a percentage, it displayed the player rating. I wonder if anything's changed with the mechanics, or if that's just a bandaid to mask last year's issue of all too often missing free throws that (allegedly) had a 90+% chance of going in. If it's the former, then that might turn out to be a good change. I miss the stick aiming of NBA 2K17, though. It was admittedly potentially OP for jumpshots, but I loved the mechanic for free throws.

Rolling my eyes at the NBA Live bashing in the comments. No surprise there, though. Bottom line, both games have their issues, and the shortcomings and issues in one don't excuse or justify the shortcomings and issues in the other. I know comparisons are inevitable, but judge each game for its own merits and flaws, what it does well and how it needs to improve. With the tribal mentality a lot of people have, that seems like too big of an ask for many, unfortunately.

One thing that has me potentially optimistic regarding the visuals is the lighting from the 3-on-3 court that was in that earlier trailer. Granted it would only be on pc, but the potential is there to find that lighting file and mod it to every other NBA court.

I think that would go a long way to improving the dark stadium and soft, clay body types 2k has grown accustomed to.

Gameplay-wise, skating is clearly still a problem, and ball warping may never be solved, but was there much clipping? I know this was something they were supposedly looking to address. I didn't get a good look at it but it didn't seem to be glaring.

I'll have that fixed the first day mods are possible, assuming the gameplay is improved enough to warrant a purchase. Got his tattoos ready to go.

it looks the same, but with less fps? could that be the selling point? idk i just need a break from that 2k basketball engine, going to switch to live for now. i do appreciate the last 10 years 2k, see you soon?

hopefully 2k is currently working/making nba 2k on another engine behind the scenes for the new console release in a few years, i'm not expecting any major changes until then and hopefully we get a pc version by 2025.

Nothing particularly egregious stood out. Hopefully that means physicality is improved this year.

Even Xbox One X can not provide a solid 60 fps. At 1:00-1:04 is clearly observed 30-40 fps, or maybe lower. Already worried about the PC port with framerate issues

The defense looks terrible. Watch off the ball, watch how the players are reacting on the court.

Watch Rondos feet while he is just standing there, they are sliding back and forth. The skating is in the game just as it was in 2K18, the gameplay looks just like 2K18.

And I disagree about players being stopped, I just see that the user is not pushing forward on his drives, any slight hint of contact he is backing it out.

Hoping Live 19 impresses me, because it doesn't look like I'll be playing this game.

Looks totally like 2K18.

It seems that there few new animations.
Curry's face is very good
they work on cheerleaders too.
new player icons (animated)
After few buckets, AI double team Curry

so, no a big step at all, hope that everything is in the gameplay.

Haven't watched it yet, but as it's xbox one x it might (emphasis on might) be running at 4K, hence the lower framerate.

I mean let's be realistic, that's how game generations work. There cannot be really major improvement in many areas until the overall performance (which means new console generation, which I estimate holiday season 2020 at earliest) is raised.

The issue is that the stuff I'd like VC to focus on - bug fixes and optimization - is hard to sell to customers. Of course everybody would like it, but it is kinda considered as "this should be free update".
From marketing point of view they need new features to sell the game based on those.

Looks exactly like 2k18.
Noticed they still haven’t added Nike and nba logos to shooting sleeves, haven’t updated hair for McGee, Kuzma, Caldwell pope, Beasley and Mcaw and doesn’t look like Ingram has all his tattoos. Surely that’s not lebrons latest face scan either cause it’s the exact same.
Hey they updated the ball colour though so it’s been a really productive year by the 2k art department haha

Watched the whole video and I am unimpressed by it.
The lighting of the whole court does not help the ambiance of the game. Too dark, makes it look like you are playing in a very small court.
It's like you are playing in a low to medium settings.
Reflections suck, the only reflection in the court you could see is the lights in the rafters, a bit of the players.
The banner video/lights not reflecting on the court, the sideline has minimal to unnoticeable reflection.
I don't think showing the crowd can cause a performance issue that's why they make the lighting dark. They could always lower the quality of the crowd a bit for those at the back if that's the issue. Being able to see those crowds can make the ambiance of the game better.

I really miss 2K14 graphics. 2K14 courts/arenas are still the best. Like how NBA Live courts are ace.

On a side note about the accessories, the headband's nba and nike logo are overlapping each other. Hope this gets fixed. Small thing but big impact on the look.
