I'm enjoying having Cait along for the adventures at the moment. I will say that Fallout 4 does have some good companions, it's a little underrated in that regard. It's cool that MacCready returns from Fallout 3, older and a little wiser.

It's a shame you can only bring one (well aside from your custom Automatron) because of the personalities each of the companions have.

Speaking of Automatrons, I built one with heavy guns and a missile pod, and boy did I regret doing that when the robot gets to indoor combat.

It is a shame you're limited to just one, but the companion swap conversations are pretty good, though.

Re-installing Fallout 4 now, damn it!

Worth it. Had another session this evening, working my way through side quests and DLC.

Hate to admit it, but I've kind of been getting into settlement building. Just Sanctuary really, and basically to make it a viable place to sell what I've scavenged between trips out into the Commonwealth, but I've found some fun in it (and it doesn't hurt that crafting and such provides XP, too). It's still a bit too ingrained for my liking and the Minutemen missions are tedious and repetitive, but they do help out with some exploration now that the main quest is over. It's better than mechanics like empire building and turf wars in various GTA games.

That first one was hilarious, can't believe it made me want to re-re-re-re-reinstall the game yet again...

I've well and truly warmed up to it at this point. Every so often I get the urge to go back and play 3 or New Vegas - and I'm sure I will in the future - but I do want to finish everything there is to do in 4 first.

I expect I'll try another playthrough from the start, too. Although I did enjoy my first playthroughs of 3 and New Vegas, I've really enjoyed playing through them again (and again...and again...). Obviously there are the different options that you can take here and there, but being familiar with each game's idiosyncrasies and the game world makes subsequent playthroughs is a big factor in them feeling much better. Part of that first playthrough is figuring everything out, sometimes rushing and making less than ideal choices.

I bought Fallout 4 a few months ago from the bargain box in JB Hi-Fi but still haven't played it yet. Worth playing?

I've never played any of the Fallouts (although i think i played on back on xbox360), is Fallout 4 the best one or should i invest my time in a different one? I'm on ps4

I think it's worth playing, though I'd probably still rank 3 and New Vegas ahead of it in terms of story. Fallout 4 is a bit newer and fresher, and has some nifty new mechanics such as being able to sprint. I don't think it's a bad place to start. I think you could, if you wanted to, then go back and check out 3 and New Vegas much easier than it was for me trying to go back and check out 1 and 2 after starting with 3.

I started with F1/2 ; so for me, the games are "real" Fallout : solid RPG, rich stories, dark world and choices.
FNV is in the same vein, in 3D.

F3 and F4 are Bethesda games, big sandbox, average RPG and FPS, more mainstream. stories and choices are limited (you cant prostitute yourself or kill children...) and attributes are not decisive.
But I had good moments with Fallout 3 and appreciated that the game is more open than F1/F2.
I tried to play F4 two times ; i cant stand the main storyline. It seems that i should try 'start me up' mod.

If there's a better use for modding, I don't know of it.

Well, this could be a candidate:

In a way, mods like that are genuinely inspiring. Obviously big projects that focus on in-depth changes and experiences are awesome, but silly stuff like that has its place as well.
