James Rodriguez--a player who made a career just out off one WC performance. Mans didn't belong in any big clubs at the first place.

But glass or not Bale deserves more playing time. Club football is all he has.

Turns out Karius had a concussion during the final. It probably happened when Ramos collided with him, two minutes before Madrid's first goal.

It certainly could explain his two massive errors. He had played pretty well before that happened.

Soccer, the sport as a whole, is terrible in dealing with concussions.

Spain have sacked their coach two days before their opening match because he agreed to join Real Madrid.

What a dumb decision

Australia went down 2-1 to France. So damn close to what would have been a deserved draw.

The amount of diving from the French was annoying. Hernandez in particular was pathetic :shake:

Defending champions Germany are out, bottom of their group.

It's the fourth time in the past five World Cups that the previous winners have been eliminated in the group stage. Such a weird trend.

Seems appropriate to dust off a very old video.

Man, had Mexico taken care of business, Korea could have made it!

I'm upset Portugal didn't lock up 1st after a weird turn of events the other day but I do like how they have an opportunity to take out Argentina if Messi and co. can make it past France

All the Asian region teams getting a win except for Australia, disgraceful and a disappointment.

I agree. We were really poor, especially in attack.

The only real positive was Daniel Arzani. He looks like a real prospect for the future.

Crazy part is Australia had a decent shot at making the round of 16

All these Korea/Mexico memes are hilarious. Yesterday was basically "Thank a chinito day"

England should be confident of at least making it to the semi finals now. Especially as they would have expected Germany to be in place of Sweden.

The top left section is fascinating. Cavani/Suarez vs Ronaldo. Young French team vs Messi. Anything could happen there.

If we had just scored a goal in the second half against Denmark.. We would have played with more confidence against Peru and Denmark would have had to beat France.

Hopefully we can find some new players in the next four years and won't have to bring 80 year old Tim Cahill to the next WC

What a game between France and Argentina :P
Happy for the result, but so sad for Messi.

so whose the favorite for yall now?

England vs Brazil final with England taking it for me

If Uruguay can beat France, Uruguay's going to win it all.

Fucking ref in that Portugal/Uruguay game was awful

Man, Japan had that game in the bag. But the smallest mistakes lead to goals against good teams like Belgium.

Crazy, two games ending in PKs on the same day. Is home field advantage real?

Now that Portugal is out, I'll probably root for Belgium or Colombia. France as a third option. So glad Germany is out of it

Only goal mistake Japan did was conceding that game winner from a setpiece counter.

Vertonghen was very lucky when his attempted header pass missed the recipient but instead went in for the goal.

Nothing Japan can do with that header from Fellaini, you can't stop a player moving off the ball. Belgium started to lob balls when they realized Japan can't deal with their height.
That's why Japan didn't bother to sit deep and defend, Belgium would just lob balls over them to score so Japan went on the attack instead which unfortunately didn't work well for them.

Who would have predicted that both Russia and Sweden would be legit contenders for the semi final?

England are definitely happy that they lost their last group game against Belgium. The other side of the draw is brutal.

England lost intentionally tho

So, Ronaldo is going to Juventas because Neymar is coming to Madrid? I thought he would go to ManU to finish his career but I guess $$$>>>

France v. Croatia is the Final I'm most interested in seeing, by a landslide. That England team is tough to watch. I hope they fall to the Swedes.
