Chicago Bulls get:
Anthony Morrow, G
Joffrey Lauvergne, C
Cameron Payne, G

They finally give Rus a shooter. Could be a big deal down the line. The games they lose because people aren't making shots should go down a little.

In terms of being a shooter, I'd take Morrow over McDermott. In that respect, the Bulls picked up a decent backcourt player, but it's difficult to get too excited about the deal. Like I said in the Bulls thread, I'm just glad they didn't pull the trigger on any deals involving Butler. There's no way they would've made a shrewd trade.

Are Bulls fans happy about this trade?

Not particularly. I don't think it makes them any better, and they traded away one of their most solid contributors who has a long tenure with the team, and is a total pro. I guess it could be worse, but if that's the best you can say about a deal, it's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I am ok with it.

Gibson is aging and expiring(contract). Joffrey is young and has pretty good skillset. He should be utilized more in CHI but I worry cause of Portis.

Payne probably becomes the best PG for the team right away.

No real loss here outside of emotional attachment for Taj/McDer being Bulls own 1st round drafts.

heading into the deadline the bulls beat guys were talking about trading gibson for a late 1st round pick and this deal happens
