BRYANT, RAVENS TAKE 1ST BLOOD

Montreal Ravens vs Toronto Raptors 95-86

Apr. 19, Montreal – The Ravens’ 2nd consecutive playoff appearance was highlighted by their first win in the playoffs after suffering a clean sweep from the Heat last season. Bryant, 21, led the Ravens in scoring with 25 points paired with 6 assists and 3 steals.
Hardaway showcased his veteran leadership in the closing minutes of the game when the game was tied 86-all. Tim facilitated the offense for Montreal and got some key steals which quickly turned to points the other way. He finished with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals.
In his first playoff appearance of his career, Kevin Garnett simply didn’t feel like playing the way he should. The 23-year old forward scored 13 points with 1 make from the field in 12 attempts.
Just like Garnett, the Raptors’ stars were a no-show tonight as the trio of Stoudamire, Barkley, and Harpring only combined for 39 points compared to Montreal’s 62 points from Hardaway, Bryant, and Garnett.
“It felt good to finally win in this stage, man. I can’t wait to see what we can do with this team. We just have to take it one game at a time.” Said Bryant in his post-game interview.

NOTES:
Billups, we learned, is still miles away from recovering from his injury….

BRYANT STARS IN RAVENS WIN, GET 3-WIN SERIES ADVANTAGE

Image

Montreal Ravens @ Toronto Raptors 94-82

Apr. 23, Toronto – With a 2-0 advantage in the series, the Montreal Ravens didn’t let any opportunity slip their way. They still hustled and worked hard for the ball and their all-around effort in the game never wavered. It was clear that they wanted this game for themselves. They wanted to win and get it over with and they showed us that.
Bryant still continues to impress us with his play in the playoffs. He shot 50% from the field en route to a 37-point outing on the road that pretty much sealed the deal for the series. Aside from his scoring outburst, he also recorded 4 steals and 2 blocks to contribute in the defensive end of the floor.
Aside from Bryant, there’s no one in the game that scored more than 17 points as players were held to 16 points and 13 points only. Hardaway was the second scoring leader for the Ravens with 13 and 11 assists while Stoudamire had 16 points but shot 33% all around with 5 turnovers.
Both Garnett and Wallace recorded double-digit rebounds with 14 and 16 respectively while scoring 8 points each. For Charles Barkley, the playoffs has been harsh for him. He’s been averaging career-lows across the board with 4.1 ppg and 8 rpg. We can surely add his age in the equation as to why he’s playing that bad for the Raptors.

NOTES:
5 of Toronto’s leading scorers didn’t shoot above 50% in the game…. Yinka Dare is expected to return next game after getting cleared by team doctors….

Congrats on the series win. If you can contain Hill, you should have an ECF date with the Bulls (assuming they make it that far).

Hill's been tearing it up lately with 2 consecutive 40-point games. I hope Wallace and Garnett can stop him in this series. :|

A lot of these 90's jerseys in general are fire. Good on you to steal a game on the road, here's to hoping you can win two at home and close the series in Detroit.

Montreal Ravens vs Detroit Pistons 102-78

May 8, Montreal - The Montreal Ravens have a two-games-to-one lead in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals following an incredible shooting performance in the first half of Saturday’s 102-78 blowout over the Pistons in Montreal.
Garnett scored a playoff career-high 34 points while also recording 14 rebounds and 2 blocks in the process.
Peja Stojakovic provided a spark off the bench and Anthony Parker made two big three-point shots in the third quarter, helping the Ravens stop any attempts of a Pistons comeback.
The Pistons struggled mightily against the Ravens’ defense. The highest scorer of their team was sophomore Derek Fisher who had 18 points on the night, almost half of what the leading scorer of the Ravens (Garnett) had (34), also committed 6 turnovers.
“I know I played like crap tonight but our bench stepped up to the challenge and we got the series advantage. We feel good.” Said Bryant after scoring his playoff-low 22 points and shooting almost 33% from the field (9-25).
