NBA officially announce Montreal as 30th team
NEW YORK (AP) — The Montreal Ravens officially joined the NBA on Monday after majority owner David Parker made the final payment on the team's $500 million expansion fee.
The Ravens become the league's 30th team and will begin play next season.
"We are delighted to welcome the city of Montreal into the NBA." Commissioner David Stern said.
Parker, chief executive officer of Parker Tech, was awarded the expansion franchise in November 1994.
The Ravens will select at least 14 players from the other 29 NBA teams or in the free agents pool in June 22. Teams will be allowed to protect eight players, and no team may lose more than one player.
Montreal has a protected lottery pick and the highest percentage to win the lottery with 25%, and also the 2nd pick in the second round (32nd overall pick), in the 1996 draft.
The Ravens will play their inaugural season at the WestJet Centre which opened their doors for the Ravens last month.
Montreal will play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference with neighbor Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, New York, and Philadelphia, under the NBA's new divisional alignment, which goes into effect next season.

Ravens sign veteran forward Dominique Wilkins
Montreal - Dominique Wilkins, also known as "The Human Highlight Film", is going back to play in the NBA after signing a two-year deal with the newly-formed Montreal Ravens worth $6.4 million. Wilkins last played for the Boston Celtics but played for Greece in the better part of 1995 looks to give the NBA another chance.
Nique thinks he can still play the same way he played in his last time in the NBA when he averaged almost 20 points per game for the Celtics. Wilkins is expected to be a starter and the leader of the team this season.

This is a cool idea. I've always wanted to do a relocation/expansion game myself.
Are you aiming for the playoffs or is this a building team?

With this kind of team, I'm going to be surprised if we ever even qualify for the playoffs. Going to sim the 1st season later so we'll see.

Fair enough. I wasn't sure because I have only heard of four players on your team

Good luck in the draft.

I just finished simulating the 1st season. If you guys were wondering why it took me a day and a half, the roster was very buggy and prone to crashes so it took me time to figure out what was causing it. Season recap and offseason news later.

BASKETBALL GODS DENY RAVENS' DREAM OF THE 1ST PICK
It was all gone. The Montreal Ravens ended the season with only 27 wins but with high hopes. They were coming in the NBA Draft with a 25% chance, the highest of any team, to get the 1st pick but the dream was all gone the second they heard their name come before the 1st pick.
When asked about the controversial ending of the Lottery, GM David Parker had something to say.
"Obviously this changes everything for us. Back then, we were all saying 'We're going to get this guy. No problemo." but now, we can't. It changes everything. Now we have to plan it out, heck even try trading on draft night to see if we can get some extra picks."
The Milwaukee Bucks were the ones who stole the spotlight from them. What's more interesting is that they only had a 9% chance on getting the pick but it still worked out in the end.
"We can't fault the league for what happened! C'mon that's ridiculous. David's still new in the block and he still has a lot to learn as a GM. I think newcomers like him always stick to statistics way too much - they need to take in account the miracles brought upon by God."
The quote above was from the GM of the Bucks after getting asked about Parker's statement.

Unlucky.
But with the way the AI drafts you should be able to get
Kobe anyway
Fri Jul 22, 2016 11:22 am
Too bad, btw why did you assumed that you have the best chance of winning the lottery but you don't have the worst record on the league. Milwaukee, Memphis and Dallas has worst record than you.
Fri Jul 22, 2016 4:15 pm
Phil89, welp I just finished the draft so you'll just have to wait and see.
dare, didn't the Bobcats in 04 or 03 got assigned a pick in the draft? That's what I was going for but there's a limit on until where/what you can edit the game so what I did was I traded my 2 1st round picks to the Grizzlies so I get a 25% chance and them, a 15.6% chance.

Ravens trade Ennis Whatley and 1996 36th pick for Pacers’ 1996 21st pick
The Ravens announced a trade right after the 20th pick by the Pacers. For the 21st pick, the Ravens gave up veteran guard Ennis Whatley who’s remaining $1.06M contract will be absorbed by the Pacers.
Montreal ended up drafting shooting guard Ray Allen from the University of Connecticut. Allen averaged 23.4 point per game in UCONN with a 46.6% record beyond the arc.

Bryant: "I'm excited but not hopeful"
An hour after getting drafted by the Montreal Ravens, Kobe Bryant sat down with the media. Bryant was asked about the Ravens' future and how he think he can fit in with the team.
"I'm excited to be the newest addition to this franchise but I'm not hopeful or even dreaming of winning a championship next season. That, to me, might still be 2 or 3 seasons away from now. As to how I can fit to the team, I think me and this franchise has a lot in common. I know, for sure, that we're both young and just starting out. Just feeling the game in general. The other part is that I know me and this franchise is destined for glory. We might not look like the Bulls or the Lakers right now but give us some time. We'll get there."
