skoadam, you kinda answered your own question. The Heat are going young with Josh and Winslow. They didn't want to pay Wade the money he deserves/wants.
In all contract Wade signed with the Heat, he willingly got shortchanged in each every one of them, all in the name of the team. After LBJ left, he finally thought 'time to cash in' but the Heat had other plans. It led to this.

I understand why Pat did it, i dont understand why Wade took 3M per year more and choose unknown situation, with rookie coach, rondo and lopez.

He's going home. LeBron went home, ended up in the Finals twice and won it all (as a player, coach and GM).
And he was making sacrifices during the past years and this year Heat decided to offer big contract to Whiteside and pursue Durant over Wade (it's logical, but it probably just pissed him off).

It's just how the adult world works. When you think they got you at discount price everytime, you feel you are entitled to more. Just watch a young guy next to you getting promoted while you feel left out. Feelings build up and lead to things. Wade has good excuses as been said before. He's never been the highest paid player for supposedly his team.
Wade's departure was better imho for both parties. Wade's get fresh new start with better players and more money. Heat can go young with load of cash going forward.

I always thought NovU was a Heat fan the way he talked about LeBron. If you're a Wade fan only.... I'm sorry it's not looking good right now. Not only does this tarnish his legacy a tiny bit as he isn't going to play with the same team his whole career, but he's joining a team that is going to struggle a lot next season. They have no 3pt shooters (they just got rid of two of them to get Wade) The Bulls spacing next season will be so funny to watch. Didn't Butler give the impression he wanted to be the man of this team? Well that's out the window..... I predict Butler will jump ship if they don't win fast.

Whatever happens in Chicago, it won't erase what Wade accomplished in Miami, or the heights he's reached during his prime.

PeacemaNot. Playing for one team for so long for entire career indeed is a special feat itself. Too bad Wade couldn't do it
Yep, I was always a semi Heat fan and more of Wade guy. He's been favorite guy to watch from day 1 and he's nearing the end of his career. I think I will stay wid him to end. As for the Heat organization, some of the things their individuals or as an entity they've done were embarrassing and unlikable(ie. Mike Miller fraud). There just isnt enuf reasons for me to mindlessly be their fan regardless of their doings. After all they are profit first business entity and theres too little for me to connect. I move on tho I prolly think of them fondly due to memories.

Seriously don't understand why this is a big deal to people.

Why should a player be loyal to a team that is trying to lowball him?

There is something special about a star player spending their entire career with one team, as it's a rarity and it demonstrates two-way loyalty in a profession where teams treat players like commodities, and players sometimes have to adopt a mercenary-like attitude. However, playing for more than one team doesn't automatically diminish or erase a player's accomplishments, or tarnish their legacy.

Yeah I guess Heat Fans feel like knicks fans did when we traded Ewing.

I'd agree with that. It's a special thing when it does happen, especially in this era, but beyond that...who really cares?
I mean, I get the argument about guys who go ring-chasing, but that's about where they go not about where they left.

when you watch a guy play for your team for 15 years or so then see him end up on another team its fucking horrible. seeing him in another jersey sucks. being said however, if a team does not treat a player right i dont blame them for leaving. its only when its clear that player is jumping ship to get an easy ring that it becomes a problem imo. i am not the fan of free agency that everyone else is. i feel is good for the players and bad for the game
