Jesus they've slowly turned themselves into a halfway decent team on paper. I still believe rose isn't as good as everyone thinks he is but he's still better than what they had last year

Jennings' contract is positively old school.

i'll def be keeping tabs on how Noah and Rose will do next season. i think Noah will do well for the knicks. i think the shoulder thing was a fluke and if he's as healthy as he claims watch out. knicks fans just have to patient with him because his game is so rhythm dependent. once he gets going he'll be a joy to watch

so knicks fans- how about some kind of friendly wager between who finishes better between the bulls and your beloved knicks? just something fun. it could involve sig space. plenty of time to iron the details.... are you in???

Life has taught me to never bet on the knicks, I might as well give you my PayPal information right now.

You're learning as I did

I can't say I follow the Knicks closely at all, but why are they trying to be competitive right now? Clearly Noah and Rose haven't worked out for Chicago, so why does NY think they will be any better there? It feels like they're trying to build around Melo still rather than Porzingis.

I have to say Jeffx was right all along. We've seen this before. The moves Knicks made this offseason are kinda deceiving yet again. They might fool you into thinking knicks are actually good when in reality absolutely not. Franchise tradition lives on.

I think they'll be more competitive than last year, though.

What can I say, New York just isn't a rebuild city.

This is a fun team. Sure they're not going anywhere, but I'll be looking forward to (8) New York vs. (1) Cleveland next year.

the knicks are the perfect team this season, fun. no team is going anywhere except the warriors (champs) and cavs (runner up). everyone else just collecting checks

I am afraid the Knicks are going to be even worse. Carmelo has been on downhill for a long time now. It's a wishful thinking if you think he and newly acquired Noah are going to turn back the time. Jennings is also a poor addition especially with post achilles injury issues, you just don't know what Jennings you will be served.

Big loss is Lopez. He was good, the best Knickerbocker last season. Calderon was also solid though step slow. It's really tough to argue their replacement pieces are better unless you think this is year 2010. It will take crazy luck in healthy roster in order for them to have any shot at making the playoffs.

What I don't want is a repeat of what happened after 2012-13, where the team fell apart following a good season with a playoff series win.

We want sustained success like the Knicks had in the early 70s and most of the 90s. Build a core group around Porzingis, add pieces here and there, and keep your assets (draft picks).

Is the front office smart enough to do that? I don't think so....with the Knicks, the plan changes year-to-year. Been like this for the past 15 years.

Knicks sign N'Dour the guy that looked good in last year's summer league then got a contract from the Mavs only to blow his knee out in camp, I saw he was a teammate of Willy's with Real Madrid but he logged only 10mpg for them.

I know we need body's at this point and cheap ones at that but I think we could of done better than him hopefully it's just a camp deal invite.

I'm a big knicks fan and i think since the east is pretty weak we can be top 6 or maybe top 5 in playoffs next year but thats only if we mesh and rose stays of the the injuries to play at least 70game (which i don't think will happen) but i for sure think we can make playoffs no problem if Melo, Jennings, and Noah can stay healthy we can make a lengthy playoff run. :D

Am I the only one bothered by Carmelo choosing to play in the Olympics? To me, his focus should be on the Knicks - resting his body and getting healthy for the long season.

Only thing he can win today, is a Gold Medal.

I have to admit, Phil had the right blueprint to beating Golden State:

Makes me think he could've coached the 1996 Bulls to victory over them. Just saying. ;)

Carmelo's gold medals mean nothing to fans of a franchise that hasn't won shit since 1973. We want NBA gold.

Jeffx, since it is clear the Knicks won't be winning the title this season or anytime soon, what are you hoping to see from them this year?

I'm interested in seeing mostly how Porzingis develops this year. I'd like to see what he has added to his (non-existent) post-game and if he can become a consistent threat. Rose and Melo together on the court will make for two dynamic scorers on the team, but whether or not this team makes the playoffs depends on the rest of the team.

If the Knicks look promising headed into next off-season, I wouldn't mind extending Rose. I think this teams biggest area of opportunity is definitely the bench, and my biggest fear is that the Knicks fall back into their bad habits and traded future picks for bench depth that won't help this team contend.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I don't think this Knicks team are true contenders for title, like my favorite player Derrick Rose does.

This team reminds me of 2011-12 Knicks.
