I mean considering all the records that have been broken, tied and amazing feats being made like:
73 win season,
400 3pts from Curry.... demolishing his previous record by 116 3pters!
40 - 1 home record from the Spurs
Kobe's last game being one of the best exits ever
Triple Double display from Westbrook and Green.... 31 combined.
An amazing draft class with a lot of potential great players
- KAT (ROTY)
- Kristaps Porzingis
- Devin Booker
- Myles Turner
- D'Angelo Russell
- Emmanuel Mudiay
I don't see why not. Keep in mind this is only the regular season! I can't wait for the playoffs

I wouldn't dare argue against it, as that would just make me a hater. And if there's one thing being an NBA fan in 2016 has taught me, it's that dissenting opinions are sign of bitterness and hating, and you should just shut up and have the correct opinion.

In all seriousness, it's been a noteworthy and historically significant season, with a lot of great moments. No question about that. I think best ever is pushing it though, at least at this stage. There have been other seasons that are memorable for their own reasons, and you've got to be careful about calling the latest anything the best ever. There needs to be time for the hype and the moment to pass, and everything to be put into perspective when you make comparisons.
You also have to consider the elements of this season that aren't so positive. An uncompetitive, snoozefest of an All-Star Game that pales in comparison to the great clashes of the past where players defended a little harder and didn't just chuck threes. A couple of teams tanking hard and setting dubious league and franchise records along the way. Only two teams topping 60 wins, with only two real contenders and the Western Conference Finals essentially deciding the championship, more than likely. The rookie class has a lot of potential, but they're still a ways off realising it, and they're not exactly the classes of 1984, 1996, or 2003 just yet.
I wouldn't say it's the best ever. It's not that it hasn't been a great season, or a memorable one, but the NBA's been around 70 years, and there are a lot of memorable seasons that are in contention for "best ever", "most memorable", "most historically significant", or whatever. They can't be so readily dismissed as being surpassed, especially when this year's Playoffs aren't even in the books yet.

Each to own I guess and depends how best is defined. If u ask me tho...
I thought this was one of the least interesting seasons ever in recent era of basketball. 73 is cool but warriors dont interest me much on personal level, especially with only rivalry being the Spurs in the league. These 2 teams dont generate much drama anyways. Their dominance is like watching educational movies with only good guys actors or eating healthy but bland food. One way to spice up the things would have been to add more ingredients like drama, villain, or variety in rivalry.
So much boredom that media ran Kobe retirement news every night for entire season. To tell you the truth, it was uninteresting, pathetic, and tiresome. Seriously how many of you watched how many Lakers game this year? Im quite sure more people watched more Lakers games 5, 6 seasons ago. Kobe's last game was greatest? For me it felt like adding to the insult.
Also remember of non existent blockbuster trade and big free agent moves, Aldridge made Spurs better, that was literally the most exciting one. Remember noise when trios existed in Boston, Miami, Lakers (tho failed NashDwight). I would say things have quite down a little lately.
Lots of interesting record made and broken but this season gets 2.5 stars out of 5 on personal level.

Wow... you just made an amazing and historic season sound like shit. Thanks.
BTW I said it was one of the best exits, not his greatest game. smh

In my mind this has being the best season in terms of rookies plus records (Bulls) that being the 96 season, I know there has being great rookies since but not much happened records wise.

It was a great last day of the season for sure. The season as a whole? ehh, I dunno about that. When I think of a great season, I think of teams jockeying for playoff positioning in the last few weeks, teams just barely making it/not making it. Having no one really making one conference interesting and having 2 teams dominate the other conference isn't really interesting to me unless they're breaking records like the Warriors did.

Agreed.

its my opinion that you cannot say its the best season YET. after the playoffs maybe its something we can talk about but until then i personally will hold off judgement. also this is a very opinion based question.
Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:19 am
True, rarely is just the regular season exciting. Usually that's something you'd say about a certain year's playoffs
Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:57 am
It is kind of a package deal, absolutely.
Sun Apr 17, 2016 1:13 pm
An ideal season would be no team going 73-9 and just everyone competing every night. Imagine if the teams were all that competitive.
Sun Apr 17, 2016 2:36 pm
I thought that this season was average, at best.
The Eastern conference is extremely weak, with the Cavs being the only serious competition. A lot of major teams in the West have also significantly underperformed. All in all, this has been a one-team shitshow season with a painfully predictable playoffs result of a Spurs-Warriors Western Conference finals in which the Warriors win and end up destroying the Cavs in the finals. I could have told you that this was going to be the end result from Day 1, and I can still easily say the same now. So, all in all, a rather predictable season. Fair amount of entertainment too, don't get me wrong. I'm watching the playoffs, and it's hard to get excited when the East is full of aids and the West has teams leading by 30+ points. What the hell is this shit?
Sun Apr 17, 2016 5:17 pm
I was hoping the Spurs could have reached 70 wins along with the Warriors 73 so the NBA would be forced to change the rules and make the league hard again.
Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:34 pm
Strange how I see this season completely different to others. I thought this season was entertaining as fuck (I haven't felt that way with NBA season in awhile). I'm guessing it's just the age gap.

regular season is too long IMO

a little hyperbole but hats off to you for spicing things up the thread lol. i can agree to an extent there is the element missing of that hated villain. those type of things manifest themselves. just didn't happen often this year. things should get chippy if GSW faces LAC in round 2 and the the potential SAS vs OKC series may be the best series of the playoffs.

i agree with these sentiments but we'll keep this in the archive and bust it open when wade has his farewell tour

not to side bar this conversation but alluding to Sauru's post about a player staying with one franchise- if MJ stayed a Bull his entire career, would Bulls fans be acting like how lakers fans are? for me, i was sort of bitter to see Jordan play in another uni (prolly more due to with bulls management breaking up the team) and i honestly pitied him when it got to the point average players were stopping him/scoring on him. i was content knowing i saw his best days as a chicago bull

I thought it was an entertaining season; I'm also surprised to see others feeling meh about it.

You might be right. Perhaps it's me losing passion over the years and decade.
The biggest difference for me was that I couldn't find that ONE or 2 games that I wanted to watch each night whereas in the past I had no problem finding interesting games/teams to watch on any given night. In case any of you noticed, I was following rookies/prospect more this year and I'd talk about them more.

As Sauru said, it also comes down to personal opinion. If your team sucked or was at least a disappointment - not naming any teams here, though I certainly do have an example in mind - you may not have enjoyed the season as much as other people, especially if they felt more invested in the historical significance of the season than you did.
I also think you raise a good point there, NovU. I'm not saying there weren't any significant or fun games to watch, and I know there were games that I did enjoy, but I'm struggling to name any that really stood out for me now that the season's over. I'm sure I'll remember a couple of them if they're pointed out, but usually I don't have any trouble recalling some games that I really enjoyed watching, and this year I am.

what is you age and what age gap are we talking here?
i personally like a more evenly balanced season than the one we just had. overall i would say this year has been ok. for me there is also less players in the league now that i am a fan of. the playoffs could make me rank this season up a bit but so far they are not off to a good start
Mon Apr 18, 2016 10:56 pm
As a Knicks fan, I haven't had a "best season" since 1973.
Mon Apr 18, 2016 11:18 pm
Past regular seasons had a little bit of more intensity and faster pace, not that many timeouts and all that stuff. The argument could be made around the fact that most regular season games in today's nba are played like a scrimmage.

I'm 17.
I'm presuming some of you guys are in your mid to late 20's or even older considering you've been here since the early 2000's.
Tue Apr 19, 2016 9:15 am
Indeed. A few of us are in our 30s.
Tue Apr 19, 2016 2:32 pm
personally i am sure i would vote for almost any season prior to the flop-a-thon we have now as my "best" season ever
Tue Apr 19, 2016 4:38 pm
I actually quite enjoyed the 2011, 2013, and 2014 seasons.
