2015-2016 Daily Discussion Thread

Tue Mar 08, 2016 5:19 pm

Alright, so daily and weekly threads haven't panned out, which is kind of a shame as I was hoping they'd gain a little more traction. However, since a centralised discussion thread for random daily NBA chatter is what people seem to prefer, let's run with that for the rest of the season. That said, I would encourage people to make threads more often on topics that interest them, when something significant happens, and so on. I'll create a few examples that'll hopefully get the ball rolling.

Anyway, let's tip this off with the latest achievement by the Warriors. 45 straight wins at home, beating a 20 year old Bulls' record in their continued race to beat another mark of the same vintage, 72-10. They almost let the game slip, but at the end of the day, they bounced back from the loss to the Lakers. No huge surprise there, they've yet to lose two in a row all season.

Russell Westbrook just had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 20 assists against the Clippers.

Thankfully there was no fourth quarter collapse this time around and OKC won

First player to have a triple double with 20 points and 20 assists since Rod Strickland in 1998. As noted before, he's one of those players having a great season this year, lost in the shuffle because of what's happening with Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

GSW vs. SAS later. Hope this will be a grind out game unlike the first one as the Spurs' homecourt win streak is on the line today.

crying tears of joy because a team actually played defense on curry. My god this game.... I love this.

Warriors haven't won in San Antonio in 19 years (regular season).

This is what I wanted, a close game. Holding the Warriors to 37 points in the half is an amazing thing.

Last night was preview of what's to come in the Conference Finals. The Heat will smother Cavs and will face the Spurs in the Finals.

At this point, it still looks like the Warriors are going to beat the Bulls' record, but that's going to be a great Western Conference Finals if everyone's healthy.

That was basketball the way I like it....hard-nosed tough defense, and inside-out offense. The score reminded me of those classic late 90s Knicks/Heat playoff games.

Timberwolves came very close to pulling off the upset. Curry with another cold game.

Third game in a row that Westbrook has recorded a triple-double. He's got 6 in his last 9 games and 15 total for the season.

It's such a shame for him that Golden State are playing at an incredibly high level and that Curry has already got the MVP award sewn up.

He's up there with some all-time greats in terms of the most triple doubles in a single season, in the last 30 years.

Westbrook had a triple-double in the first half against the Lakers today. 18 for the season now.

Also, Durant scored 20+ for the 64th game in a row. That's the most since Jordan in 1990-91.

Hopefully both those guys stay healthy for the playoffs so that they can give Warriors have a decent challenge.

I told you mofos my idea for a central thread was best. Without even realizing I stopped looking into these forums regularly since the NBA random discussion thread was stopped. Just not that many interesting things being posted. To emphasize the point I just realized there is a daily discussion thread here when it was actually created over a month ago on Mar 8th.

Congratulations. Now that we're doing what you want and there's no burden on you to create threads, I imagine you've got plenty of NBA-related opinions and comments to share with us all. By all means, go for it. (Y)

According to Yahoo! NBA, someone's switched the Playoff format setting to 1-1-1-1...
