How to download patch 2, etc on PC

I just got NBA 2K16 after an overnight download. It plays very laggy dispite meeting most specification requirements and on extreme low settings. I really want Patch 2 to try and see if the lag gets less apparent and see where I need to upgrade my Laptop to have better specs and prevent lag and shuttering. How do you download it?

My Specs
Dell Latitude E6400
Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.8GHz
2 GB DDR3 RAM
64MB Intel Mobile Express Chipset
Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit

What's your games directory?

Mine is the default C:\Program Files x86\Steam\steamapps\NBA 2K16

Well first that's the wrong directory since there should be a /common folder
But what's the problem? The update should download automatically when you run the game through steam.

No way you can play 2K16 on this system. Forget about any patch.

Also no way you are meeting most specifications with this. That's a 2008 non-gaming laptop.

What should I upgrade?

It's not a desktop PC, it's a laptop. So you can't upgrade a thing.

Well, besides RAM/hard drive, in some ocasions you can upgrade some parts if your motherboard supports it. But it's and extremely old hardware that only leads you to the option to build/buy a completely new PC. A desktop one, if possible, if one of its main purposes is gaming.

Patches download automatically through Steam, as long as you haven't disabled automatic updates. But yeah, a patch isn't going to help here; your specs are nowhere near good enough. You're going to need to get a new laptop or desktop that at least exceeds the minimum requirements. For really good performance, you'll need to exceed the recommended requirements, too.

As a side note: You can't disable automatic updates. You can have Steam check periodically and schedule it either at the end of the whole download list or at the end of high priority list. Or you can disable checking for updates - steam will check for downloads only when you launch the game.
