Mike Breen sets announcing record in calling 10th NBA Finals

Breen is calling his 10th NBA Finals, a record for a TV play-by-play announcer.

''It's such an honor and it's such a privilege to be able to call the finals and the number is, it's incomprehensible to me,'' Breen said.

Dick Stockton and Marv Albert shared the old record for a TV lead announcer by working nine finals, according to information provided by ESPN.

Breen said he always considers Albert the voice of the NBA. But when it comes to the championship round, the title now belongs to Breen.

''We are so fortunate to have Mike as the voice of the finals,'' NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. ''His incredible desire to understand every aspect of the NBA and his passion for the game make him truly one of the very best in the industry.''

Thoughts on Breen? I too still think of Marv Albert as the "voice of the NBA", and kind of wish that he were still calling the Finals, but I've also really come to like Breen's work. He's right up there, in my book.

I still think of Marv as the voice of the knicks and the finals, now we have Breen for both knicks and finals.

shame that the knicks games don't feel like the finals...

Calling the finals is clearly a reward for having to call knicks games all season long.

I'm also impartial to Marv Albert

Breen seems like a natural. Id put him up there with Albert and Kevin Harlan as one the best.

He has a good rapport with JVG and Mark Jackson. That may be the toughest part of his job

I honestly don't like Breen.

I like Bill Walton and Doug Collins the most. They sound like their emotions are into it whereas Breen has per-programmed reactions to everything.

I agree about collins. He's a great teacher of the game. I'd rather see him in the booth versus the studio. Studio work it's for the loudmouths. I'd rather see celebrity death match in the pregame and halftime

I always thought Walton was goofy. "Throw it down big man!" It was awesome when he called out his son's play during a Lakers telecast

If we're talking about play by play then Mike Tirico is good for me.
