Is it worth getting 2k15 if i have 2k14?

Sat Mar 28, 2015 7:33 pm

Im starting to get itchy to play some video game basketball again but after reading the reviews and looking at review ratings for 2k15 im kinda shocked that its a lot lower than 2k14, that being said is there any reason to get 2k15 if i have 2k14 already ?

What platform? If on PC (and can run 2K15), then hell yeah.
If on some of the consoles, I'll let someone else answer that.

NBA 2k15 on pc is next generation as consoles
2k14 was current gen so you definitely will feel such improvement

Which review ratings?
Usually when people gave the game bad review they couldn't run it (this was mostly fixed)
OR
their PCs couldn't handle the game
OR
they sucked at the game and complained about how unfair is that players get fatigued after shooting 30 (!) shots.

Also, a lot of the reviews were done within the first week, when servers were completely unstable. This has long since been fixed, so that isn't a problem anymore.

Just make sure you meet the minimum, or better yet, the recommended specs before buying.

Adding to that, a lot of reviewers (at least the ones whose reviews counted towards the metacritic score) didn't really take online/server stability into account when rating NBA 2K14 and other releases in recent years. 2K15 was kind of the first time a lot of them factored it into their score.

Of course, even when sites do lay out their scoring criteria, the numbers can seem pretty arbitrary from year to year. A different person may review each game for the same publication, they may not be a hardcore basketball fan/gamer, or the scoring criteria/scale may change between games. IGN gave NBA 2K12 a score of 9.5/10 and NBA 2K13 a score of 9.1/10, yet described NBA 2K13 as the superior game. It's more informative to read what reviewers and gamers are saying about the games, rather than worrying about the numerical scores. It's just a shame those scores drive the industry.

Depend on what you value the most. If you like to play vintage season, then no. NBA2k15 doesn't have ULTIMATE TEAM and roster edit is a pain. It makes up with cool graphic and gameplay though.

If you seriously put a gun on my head, I say I buy it if it's $30 instead of the $60 price tag that I paid had I know a couple things I can't do like in NBA2k14. One being not having real Tmac in game and the other is the lack of playing a vintage season like those in NBA2k13 and 2k14.

NBA 2K15 does have MyTEAM, same as NBA 2K14 (the PS4/X1 version, anyway).
