It's probably a tough pill to swallow. Jackson has come up short before, with losses in the Finals or exits in the earlier rounds, but he hasn't experienced failure and losing like this.

What do you guys think of job he's done so far? Some of the significant moves include:

- Retained Carmelo at near Max-Max
- Traded Tyson for pile of junks (main pieces incl. Calderon & Dalembert + 2 picks (turned out to be Cleanthony&LittleGreekFreak)
- Shipped JR and Iman for salary dump (maybe Lance Thomas is salvageable)

Phil gets a D+ from me.

I don't know what letter grade I'd give, but it hasn't exactly been a stellar run so far. To be fair, he wasn't exactly given a fantastic situation, but there hasn't been much in the way of brilliant deals, and he missed out on his first choice for their new head coach. Even if you wanted to argue that few people could've had much more of a positive impact given all the other issues the Knicks are facing, the fact remains he hasn't demonstrated the same shrewdness and wizardry he did as a coach. Like Jeffx said, he's got to take responsibility.

......and Carmelo's coming off knee surgery, on the plus side of 30, in the first year of a FIVE-year contract with a NO-TRADE-CLAUSE. Isiah Thomas laughs at that contract.

What happened to the hometown discount Phil wanted Carmelo to take? My guess is either Dolan or Phil blinked when word got around their star player was serious about Chicago.

Letter grade is just for fun anyway. Yeah, he wasn't exactly give a favorable situation but you could say the same for SVG in Detroit. I personally liked what SVG did boldly from the get go this year. He made Brandon Jenny fight for minutes, Drum to develop post game no matter the outcome of game, put Josh Smith in his place, so on. He later turned it around and now is looking to play in post season. And that waiving Josh, was stunning.

I am thinking what if Phil let go of Melo instead of investing entire future into his 30 and later years(his dying knees are bonus). He supposedly played in this year's allstar for the fans but experts say otherwise, it was to recruit but...
ESPN Stats and Info: "Last 10 seasons, Carmelo Anthony has 2 All-Star games in which he's played at least 30 mins and has 0 assists. The rest of the NBA? 0 games."

And Tyson Chandler I thought was a keeper unless you wanted to rebuild.

We haven't seen much magic and glamour from Phil and his crew so far(but enormous losing streak one after another). But this is their first year so should add up as valuable experience going forward, I guess.

To me, Amundson and Shved are keepers (along with Galloway). They can be solid role guys.

Incomplete grade. The season was a wash before Anthony cancelled his season. Let's see who the zen master brings in this summer

I say trade Shved and/or Amundson and get a better solid player.

The Knicks and Wolves fought tonight for the worst record in the league. And the Knicks basically won despite the loss because now they have better shot at #1 draft pick.

That one's up there with David Wesley and Eric Snow's attempts from several years back.

Phil better not give Kevin Love a max deal;

not gonna be surprised that Love would want to leave the Cavs this offseason. Play for the Lakers dammit

With the recent news saying that they consider resigning Bargnani, this one seems unlikely to happen... As far as I know they're targeting the likes of Greg Monroe, Reggie Jackson, or Goran Dragic...

It seems to me Love wants to be "The MAN" and putting up big stats for a losing franchise rather than being part of a championship contender. I'd avoid signing a player like that. Shit, how happy would he be in LA or NY where Kobe & Carmelo run the show?

I guess the grass is always greener. He could've stayed in Minnesota and been that player, but he made it clear that he wanted out. As talented as he is, it's understandable that being the number two or three guy is an adjustment and a little bruising to his ego; still, the Cavs have gotten it together as the season has worn on, and he's actually Playoff-bound for the first time in his career. He could learn a thing or two from Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade: tough sacrifices, but four straight trips to the NBA Finals and two championships, back-to-back.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

The Cavaliers won 8 of last 9 and currently on 4 game winning streak if that means anything.

That said, I really don't know what to make out of situation in Cleveland. LBJ in early season said something about 'Not playing the right way' which implied selfishness of backcourt players and Love needing more involvement. And he clearly pitched hard for Love for Wiggins trade. Track record shows he's been supportive to Love somewhat. But now there's great fuss about Love not re-signing with the Cavs and relationship between LBJ & Love gone downhill.

It's true Love hasn't been superstar-like this season though he has been solid. And he's not the only one to be blamed for any underachievement. LBJ took a hit in his production as well. It's only Irving that upped outings this year, a clear benefactor of forming a trio but of whom was supposed to be the third wheel.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Andrew. Bosh is the perfect example - he went from first to third wheel, yet he made valuable contributions to the Heat.

Leave it to the Knicks to screw up a tank job....smh....so fed up with this franchise, especially under Brain-Dead Dolan.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Ditto

We can't even tank right, could be as bad as 5th pick on the draft and I have a feeling if this happens Phil will draft WSC and throw the max at Greg Monroe.

I don't know guys, second worst record in the league, and it's not like having the best odds works out all that often. Actually, neither does having the second best odds, but for whatever it's worth, four teams with the second best odds have won the lottery four times, as opposed to three lottery wins by teams with the best odds.
