Well, that was quick.
The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to waive center JaVale McGee in time for him to sign with a playoff team, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because the decision had not been announced.

He didn't lose any money with the Sixers being able to stay at the min salary requirements.
I thought that would of made a nice line up of Joel / Noel starting with Mcgee and Thomas Robinson backing them up but guess Philly didn't agree.

Well they didn't want to waste his prime so they bought him out so he could sign with a contender.
Can you hear the gears of Houston grinding?

The dreams of a building a dynasty is no more with this move.

JaVale was going to be a great mentor for the young kids especially Nerlens and Embiid. Golden age of Shaqtin a Fool is no more with this move.

Supposedly,
Playoff bound teams are interested in his services. I'm surprised that anyone in contention would view him as a potential "final piece of the puzzle".

Portland, I'd rather play Javale at the 5 with a floor stretching big (Meyers Leonard) at the 4 with him.

Low risk move, if I may say. If he can somewhat cut his Shaqtin a Fool moments, then it's good.

If your a playoff team can you honestly afford to have McGee out there in crunch time incase of a stupid goaltend or him leading the break and throwing the ball into the 12th row?
Imo a rebuilding team would of being his best option to help a team, if he goes to a playoff team and makes stupid plays how would any other top tier team take a chance on him in the future?

A rebuilding team doesn't need McGee taking the minutes of younger players with more upside, though.
Or maybe you meant that he can help a team tank, in which case I'd have to agree with that after watching his brief stint in Philly.

That's why I said it's a low risk move. If he does his specialty plays, then it's easy for him to get benched.
At this time, teams are looking for some insurance policies, which won't really affect them big time. If it turns out good, then fine, what a nice pickup. If not, teams can just stick to their regular rotations and bench that player.
Javale can turn out to be a very good defensive player, it's just that his antics get the worst out of him.

I agree McGee is very talented and can be a great rim protector but his basketball IQ is poor and he makes more mistakes than he does good plays and that's why I wouldn't want him out there in crunch time.
I actually think the Pacers would be a good fit for him right now, play spot minutes behind Hibbert and prove that he can play without being a liability again then come next season he would have a lot more offers on the table.

12-13 was the last time when McGee was good. Since then he played 50 games for handful of minutes. I don't think he's going to be the answer to any Championship team even as a back up. He should just go to a team where he can get back into a game shape by getting minutes.

He does bring a lot of energy and somewhat good defense. Then there are the Shaqtin' moments (and past few games were really bad for him).
But I believe he can be good backup with good great coach. Overpaid though.

George Karl effect, I suppose. He was supposed to be the player that he should be, but the Nuggets fucked up and fired Karl.

McGee will sign a 2 year deal with the Celtics...

"Alright Javale, we're going to waive you so you can get all of your money and go to a playoff team"
"Sweet! I'm going to Boston"
"There's quite a few playoff teams who would love to have you. You could win a ring!"
"But Celtic Pride is, like, my favorite movie"
Stolen from Reddit.
......daw fuck

The most JaVale move ever.
He's actually not going to Boston tho. Couldn't get him a player option for next year so he didn't want to go.
Fri Mar 06, 2015 7:31 am
He should just sign with the Spurs so Pop can straighten him up and revive his career.

.. Not a bad idea, actually.

I hear Celtics and JaVale were close to a deal but has fallen because Celtics wanted a Team option for 2nd year and JaVale wanted a Player option.
I thought he wanted to land on a contender. But perhaps he's drawing little interest from none of them.

I've seen names like Memphis, San Antonio, Houston (pretty much chasing anyone at this point) and Dallas.
