Wolves looking to bring back KG, hopefully play him at his natural position

The Minnesota Timberwolves ‎are making an 11th-hour push before Thursday's trade deadline to try to reacquire Wolves legend Kevin Garnett in a swap that would send Thaddeus Young to Brooklyn, ESPN.com has learned.

Sources told ESPN.com the sides have engaged in serious discussions on the deal, which would ultimately require Garnett's approval even if the teams agree before Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline, since Garnett possesses one of the NBA's six full no-trade clauses.

The Nets obviously have a better chance of making the Playoffs, but it'd be a token appearance and likely a first round sweep (4-1 elimination at best), so it's not like he's in contention for another ring anyway. Might as well bring things full circle and have a bit of a farewell tour.

...but could he really play point guard without Marc Jackson to man the middle? I'm still scratching my head...

Now that Darko's kickboxing career is over I bet the Wolves will lure him to reconsider the NBA... That Mo Williams trade made sense now... he'll be a great backup for Rubio ;)

I wanted to do this in 2K15 when I was using Minnesota but KG refused to waive his no trade clause. :( Cool to see KG return to Minnesota to bring his career full circle. Kind of reminds me of Billups ending his career in Detroit.

Brooklyn meanwhile is a lock for that 8 seed now!

I expect he'll receive a very warm welcome in the Target Center.

Mike Mazzeo: Kevin Garnett, who was averaging 15.6 minutes per game in February, may get a two-year extension in Minny, per AP. Mentor role may pay well.

So, an extended farewell tour, then. Perhaps that'll transition into a coaching gig/ownership stake, too.
