I have no idea, and Leftos is now working at 2K and cannot support his modding tools.
Can you try redownloading the tool?

I tried downloading version 0.4.1.1 and it gave me the same error, I'll keep digging around and see if I can figure it out, I'm sure it's something trivial that I'm just overlooking. I'll try downloading the latest version again just to cover my bases. Thanks anyways.

Ok well I was able to get it working yesterday. I had to create a new windows user account though, there must be something in my user settings conflicting with the program, still irks me just cause once I have an issue I like to keep digging until I resolve it but it might be beyond my scope of knowledge for now.
Anyways just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the tutorials and thanks to Leftos for making such an awesome tool! It's allowed me to baby-step into the world of Hex editing. I was able to use the tool to update the Pelicans court; you guys can check it out at:
http://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=5384In case anyone wants to know these are the headers for what changes what for the New Orleans floor:
- Code:
S32: Out of bounds color
S44: affects Center court rectangle
S47: affects wing logo area
S50: inner key color
S53 : outer key color
S56: 2 small out of bounds section colors on score table side
S59: Lines
S65: Lines in key

Ok I finally got to the bottom of my issue with running Hex on Steroids on my main windows profile.
I was getting a critical error: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
I knew I had my Net Framework installed correctly and I was able to get the program working on a new windows profile. A work around but it was bugging me.
Here's what resolved the issue for me:
I looked at the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry which contains configuration information for various system settings and software that are specific to each user.
I noticed that the values were different for each user. In the non-working profile I had values which contained decimals (float values) whereas in the working profile, all values where whole numbers (int values). This is all still a bit over my head but I imagine this might account for the "Input string not in a correct format" error. Being that it was probably looking for int values and was getting float values. Maybe someone can chime in to confirm or correct my theory.
Anyways here's a screen shot of the values that got the program working for me.

For those who don't know how to access the Windows Registry Editor
Start-->Run --> Type in "Regedit" -->
in the Registry tree click HKEY_CURRENT_USER -->Software --> Lefteris Aslanoglou --> Hex on Steroids

How do you open crowd.iff and cloth file on Hex on Steroids?
Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:11 am
you just open the file
you need to create a profile for those files first though, and figure out what hex you want to edit and what kind of values you are looking for. Like shaders or whatnot.
This program assists with editing known value locations or patterns, not with opening any file and revealing its values.

When creating a new profile for crowd and cloth is this still the same format with reflections and court colors?
Mon Sep 16, 2013 10:52 am
no, its not. Cloth is relatively easy to edit though, I'm assuming you mean the physics. The old tutorials still apply.

Why everytime I change the reflection of floor to a higher value it always go back to its default value and nothing happens.
Thu Sep 26, 2013 9:11 am
is that happening in the tool, or after you save?
Thu Sep 26, 2013 9:18 am
After I save. Then I open the file again to check then it goes back to its's default value.

make sure you are running the tool under administrator privledges, and that the iff file isn't protected. Put the iff file on the direct C:/ or Documents folder to be sure too
Thu Sep 26, 2013 11:28 am
It still doesn't work.

then if that, or the other advice in this thread can't help, I dont know what to tell you

hi jao, first, thanks.
I read your tutorial and I can change color in high quality court file now.
But I wanna change color in low quality file.
So, I depressd low file. and i did in low quality file for same method. But there's not color zones like high file.
I have three question.
1. Can i change color in low file?
2. What's difference between high & low court file? (definition?)
3. Can i change high quality court to low quality court? (Using hex edit or something?)
Sorry for my bad english.

_lo courts are kinda like the PS2 courts, I have not gone into editing those files.

Jao, This works on 2k9? I mean, can I change the floor color? Is the sXXX.iff file?
Mon Aug 18, 2014 5:12 am
it is the sxxx.iff file for 2k9, but no idea if this would work or not though.

Thanks man, do you know someone who has edited the courts colours? because apparently hex on steroids does'nt work on 2k9
Mon Aug 18, 2014 6:14 am
i dont remember if it was done then or attempted since, but using search on the 2k9 section would answer that for ya
