The other guy wants active players so I created another thread, for retired players only.
NLSC's Favourite All-Time Basketball Player
How it Works and Rules
1. To start off you will have to make a list of your top 10 favourite NBA basketball players (Legends/Not Active Only)
2. Your favourite player will get ten points, second place will get 9 points, third place will get 8 points and so on.
3. The players you select must not be active! (i.e. players from the past)
4. After the voting stage, it will go into a knockout stage. This means I will put either 32 or 24 players in a bracket and I will post matchups for you guys to vote on.
5. The player with the most votes goes through to the next round while the loser is kicked out of the contest!
6. This will go on until I feel like it.

What's the stupid point of the list if you cant include active players?
Most of the NSLC are under 30-ish so they HAVE to have at least one active player amongst all-time favs.
1) Steve Francis (Reason I fell in love with basketball)
2) Bill Russell (Watched a lot about him and Wilt in the last couple of years. I consider him the best person in sports history and the most underrated in NBA history)
3) Wilt Chamberlain (You can't bang 20,000 women, score 100 points and grab 55 rebounds against Russell and not be on this list. And people consider Rodman the best reboudner ever. Pfffft)
4) Tracy McGrady (The Natural)
5) Paul Pierce (Old mans game + Attitude. Was great to watch)
6) Tim Duncan (Simple, Humble, Great)
7) Vince Carter (There isn't one NLSC member that at one point didn't want to dunk like him. Best dunker ever, not even close)
8) Rajon Rondo ( scrappy, arrogant, full of himself. Love him or hate him)
9) Allen Iverson (He gave everything he had for Philly. Heart of a champion)
10) Dwyane Wade (Pre-LeBron) (Before he became this pompous, constantly injured douchebag , he was a great, great, great player to watch)
If someone actually reads my post, they'll notice a lack of greats on my list. I loved watching MJ,Kobe,Lebron and Magic, but they were just so fake and full of shit that I couldn't relate to them as being a true fan. KG and Shaq were complete jackasses, I've never cared about Malone and Stockton, all the great 90's centers can't measure up to Wilt and Russell, and because I grew up watching 2000's basketball, I couldn't put Larry Bird over any of these players on my list.
EDIT: I love Barkley as an announcer, but I've never actually watched him play apart from the lone finals he was in.

Wow. He's one of a few players I seriously disliked. I still remember that asshole's face when Vancouver drafted him.

There's no doubt what an asshole he was. But his swagger (did the hipster destroy this word or what) on the court was fantastic.
I get chills everytime I watch this video.

you cant be serious? after picking one of the biggest assholes in the history of basketball as your favorite player?
Tue Oct 28, 2014 4:50 pm
He has Steve Francis as his number one, that explains all that you need to know.
Tue Oct 28, 2014 5:27 pm
Steve Francis wasn't fake. He was the jackass he was portraying. He's the first player I really watched and you can't really choose who you're fond of and who you're not. He was probably the only guy where being a complete douche didn't bother me.
Tue Oct 28, 2014 5:28 pm
To be fair - as a player, Francis was pretty damn entertaining.
