Melo thinks so, apparently.“I think I’m the most underrated superstar that’s out there, but that doesn’t matter to me,” Anthony told ESPN, according to a story posted Wednesday on its websites. “I know what I’m capable of doing. I know the grind and the hard work I put into this. I know how consistent I’ve been over my career. To do it day in and day out and night in and night out on a very consistent basis year in year out, I know what I can do and I know the work I’ve put in.
“So as far as caring about if I’m underrated as a superstar, and getting the respect I deserve, I don’t worry about that. In due time, if everything goes well, I will get it.”
What do you guys think?
I like Carmelo Anthony a lot, but I'm inclined to disagree. He's a 7-time All-Star and is regarded by various pundits as one of the best scorers in the league. I think he definitely gets enough credit for what he does.

I think he's got a point. Accolades and recognition aside, he seems to get labelled as overrated a fair bit, and he's probably underappreciated to some extent. He's generally either overrated or underrated by fans and sportswriters alike, depending on whether you like or dislike him (or his game). Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, and James Harden are players I'd also put in that category. Some of the praise they get is a bit lofty, but they're probably called overrated to the point of being slightly underrated.
