Should Edit Player assign accessories when assigning an injury?

Sat Aug 16, 2014 6:18 am

Hey guys. I'm happy to announce that this year we've added editing injuries through Edit Player as you're setting up a roster or while in MyLEAGUE. You'll also be able to retain those injuries from any roster when you start a new MyLEAGUE.

One issue we're torn on is should the Edit Player menu automatically assign a relevant accessory to the player you've just assigned an injury to, or would that be jarring without you doing it explicitly?

Mind you, like we announced accessories will be worn as players get injured naturally as you play/sim through franchise, but the question is whether Edit Player should do that for you when you edit someone's injury.

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, automatically assign the injury accesory.

However, I was under the impression MyLEAGUE is highly customizable, so maybe that would be just another option.

OPTION: INJURED PLAYERS AUTOMATICALLY WEAR ACCESSORIES

YES/NO

and that would apply for franchise, and editing players.

Also, I know you are probably working on more important stuff than this, but an option to play MyLEAGUE but on blacktop courts would be amazing.

I think this all comes down to personal preference. Some people would probably prefer to do handle manually with no automation, whereas others have the need to be in absolute control of every little thing.

Since you advertised that as feature it seems prudent to leave it on by default, but if you're asking, I would add an option to turn it or off or on.

Let's say I'm in edit player and I change derrick rose from healthy to a knee injury, yes it should automatically add a knee brace on him but it should not be absolute. I think players should have the option to take it off but for realism it's best to put accessories on automatically

Like agolden said, if its MyLeague then it should be an on/off feature.

Edit Player will allow you to edit all accessories, so even if we decide to have the menu automatically do that, you'll always be able to manually take it off.

Then my answer to your question is yes

If I understand the question correctly, I would like an accessory to be assigned automatically. But giving us the choice of what kind of accessory is used would be awesome (like knee brace, knee sleeve, etc.)

We would pick one that fits the injury, but you could always change it to something else by just going over to the Accessories page.

I see that sounds good to me. Thanks Leftos

I think having it set the accessory automatically would be best.

Yep, as long as we can take it off afterwards if we don't want it, it sounds like a great idea. (Y)

Like others are saying, as long as we can remove the accessory if we don't want it, there's nothing wrong with the game assigning it automatically. Go ahead with it, Leftos.

Exactly... I think most players would assign them anyway and leave only few without accessory, so it sounds like it will save players some time. Time that they can spend by playing :)

Leftos can u tell us how many things from your roster editor or/and Vlads reditor will be able to set from menu? should we prepare for something BIG?

I just had a thought about injuries. I'm sure it's probably too late to implement a feature like this. But you could implement experimental surgeries like Kobe and A-Rod did in Germany. Or T-Mac with his blood injections. Maybe only have the option if a player is reaching the end of his career or has had major set backs with injuries and is facing forced retirement. Maybe there could be a chance to either make it worse or heal them considerably.

If you can simply go ahead and overwrite the automatic change, then I say go for it. Of course, if it is possible to toggle an "automatically assign accessories based on injuries" setting, even better for people who don't want to have to make an extra change each time.

I don't even think it's necessary to do that, because how often are you gonna be manually setting injuries anyway? Only once in a while is my guess.

Extra settings rarely go astray, but I agree, it isn't vital. Just throwing it out there as a suggestion.

The settings should read something like this:

Setting 1 (default) - Automatically assign accessories.
Setting 2 - Prompt user to assign accessories if they wish.
Setting 3 - Disabled

If we can't put the setting in before we ship? Would you prefer auto or manual?
