In 1974, my family moved from the South Bronx to Uniondale, on Long Island. We were a stone's throw from the Nassau Coliseum, and my dad would take us there to see the then-ABA New York Nets, and their star player, Julius Erving, a.k.a., THE DOCTOR. Oh...my....goodness - my jaw dropped watching him operate on the court! He was to me what Michael Jordan was to you younger NBA fans. One of the saddest sports memories of my life was the day Roy Boe sold him to Philly - broke my heart and killed pro basketball on the Island. I was so happy when he finally won the title in 1983 with Moses - he had suffered playoff heartbreaks for years. I'm a diehard Knick fan, but I celebrated with Sixer fans that whole summer.
And I'll say this - the NBA never saw Doc's best.

I did get to watch him play against the Celtics though, so there's that

Can't wish anything more for the 90's Bulls but i love watching Grant Hill and Jason Kidd play back then.. Kevin Garnett comes to mind when I think about the 00's... His tenacity and energy is just so infectious... fortunately the Bulls got a player with the same drive as his in Joakim Noah... for those that I wished shouldn't been a Bull, it will be Tyrus Thomas and Carlos Boozer...

Tim Duncan. Well, because...Tim Duncan.
Mon Aug 04, 2014 6:07 am
I would've said Gary Payton, but he had the one year in LA, and Jeremy Lin just got traded there, so I'd have to say probably Dirk

Steve Nash. Had a lot of respect for him and would have been great to see him in a Blazer jersey.

Tim Duncan. The most successful basketballer I've ever seen.
Didn't see Jordan, Bird playing. Sorry.

Ben Wallace with the Larry Brown Sixers.
I always thought then that Wallace would be perfect under Larry Brown...then Brown coached the Pistons and that's that.
Wanted Shawn Marion to be a Sixer when he was beasting it up with the Suns.

For me, probably Kevin Garnett. It was pretty satisfying to see him win a title with the Celtics in 2008.

CP3 with the Lakers. It was very close but never happened.
Mon Aug 04, 2014 5:43 pm
Wade ofc. If Grizzlies remained in Vancouver and drafted Wade, I probably would have gotten myself a season pass.

Iggy and Melo.
Good string of threads Jeff

Would have loved to see Hakeem Olajuwon in a bulls uniform.
Aside from the fluke year Curry had, I have yet to see a great Bulls post player

Oh yeah I forgot about iguodala. He was a regular on my Live 2005 & 06 dynasty teams

So many of them from the 90s. Barkley, Shaq, Penny, Hakeem, C-Webb... the only reason I wouldn't consider Jordan as one of them is because, like many, I was on that Bulls bandwagon for a while. I think Alonzo Mourning is worth mentioning as well. Despite not liking the Heat, I was happy he was able to get a ring.
Beyond the 90s, I really liked Brandon Roy. Thought he was going to be pretty great for a while there.
Edit: Dammit, how could I forget Vince Carter?

Yeah BRoy and CP3 have been my favorite players since they came into the league

Carter or Garnett to the Lakers.

Sorry for writing again but I agree with you too.
Before his injuries Roy was a beast.

Darko>Wade. But hey. we got a ring because of Darko, or lack thereof.

i have enjoyed watching so many players that have never played for my team its really hard to pick just 1. if i had to though i would say john stockton.

Wrong answer. You're supposed to say Tim Duncan and you call yourself a Celtics fan? For shame.

The time that I became a Mavs fan(Dirk fanboy at first but evolve into rooting for the Mavs team) was in the 05-06 season, so I missed the Nash-Dirk-Finley era and Nick Van Exel too.
Michael Redd was the one player that I wish played for the Mavs. I was waiting for Cuban to sign him after he played for Phoenix even if his role is just shooting corner threes but that would be his last season.

It almost happened too, but the Bucks matched the offer sheet in 2002. Incidentally, he was on the Mavericks' roster in NBA Live 2003, as the rosters were finalised before the offer sheet was matched.

Love Steve Nash. Only times I didn't root for him in the playoffs were the first round series in 2003 and 2010

Would have loved to see MVP caliber Nash with the Lakers, not that wrecked look alike who actually came to LA.
