The Miami Heat have reached an agreement with free agent Mario Chalmers on a two-year deal, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Chalmers had an extremely disappointing NBA Finals, but before that he averaged 9.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game as the Heat's starting point guard, shooting 45 percent from the field and 39 percent from behind the three-point line. His salary surely would have been higher had he not struggled against the Spurs.

With LeBron James in Cleveland, next season will give Chalmers an opportunity to be more of a playmaker than he's been in the last four seasons.

I'm a little surprised to see Andersen return as it looked like he was moving on, but I guess he was just seeking a better deal while keeping his options open. Chalmers seemed fairly likely to return, even after his disappointing performance in the Finals. There isn't a ton of outstanding options on the market at the moment, so it's a fairly solid move bringing back a couple of capable role players who know the system, and have performed well for them in the past.

With his performance in the Finals, Chalmers should be thankful that he's still in the league.

One bad series doesn't outweigh a career of being a competent contributor.

Don't be surprised. There will come a day when LBJ asks for Irving - Rio trade.

Pat Riley seems to be very confident about Rio.

Norris Cole should get to be the starter.

I wonder how Nick Anderson feels about that.

On the plus side, Chalmers didn't shoot 30% from the free throw line. He's got that one over Nick.
