They're entitled to be mad and disappointed, same as Cavs fans were in 2010. However, I'm guessing that at least a few people who are burning LeBron's Miami jersey scoffed when Cavs fans did it (and claimed they should simply get over it because LeBron's entitled to his decision); those particular individuals are being a tad hypocritical.

Personally, I'd try my luck with eBay before I broke out the matches.

exactly. besides the way he left cleveland was way worse than how he is leaving miami. i see nothing wrong with how he left miami unless it was him and not the team that told wade to opt out.

Agreed, The way he opted out wasnt as bad as he did in Cleveland. For God's sake they made a whole segment on his decision. He brought 2 Championships to Miami they really shouldn't be mad that he's coming home.

Now is the good time to buy a Lebron Heat jersey.

Re: LeBron James headed back to the Cavaliers

Sat Jul 12, 2014 2:51 pm

I actually like the fact that he is going home. He's got a couple of rings that he needed for his legacy and now he can try to win one with the Cavs. I'd imagine that winning one with Cleveland would mean more to him than anything else he has achieved in his career.

I also like the fact that this makes the eastern conference more interesting and competitive. The Cavs shouldn't be as dominant as the Heat were due to their inexperienced players, and the Heat will be brought back to the field without LeBron.

LeBron and Wiggins on the same team is an intriguing prospect. If it happens.

if they manage to get love while keeping wiggins i think they become a much better team than miami. on paper lebron is a wash and i would take irving over wade and love over bosh. with wiggins and varejao to round out the 5 i think they are far better than miami. the ring chasers will sign soon also to round out the team.

Heat fanbase didn't really exist as you can see there are only a few active members usually, most are Lakers, Bulls fans anyhoo, no surprise those two more popular teams anywhere. I was pretty much the lone Heat voice otherwise for occasional pop ups of couple others every once in awhile.

That said, NovU fans here in our forum probably are wondering what the heck is NovU gonna do now that Heat are done. Well, I am still a Wade supporter as I always have been. Honestly, I'd love to see him in another uniform such as Bulls or Rockets but probably won't happen. I stayed a fan during Heat's 15 wins season so nothing's changed.

As for LBJ, I am not rooting for him anymore. I don't dislike him, I just have no reason to, anymore.

LBJ rented the Heat for 4 years. Or you could say the Heat rented him for 4 seasons. Either way, it worked for both side. That's that.

All eyes are on Wade's contract now. He gave up 42 mil for 2 seasons. I'm not sure if he can get that money in 4 seasons, lol. But probably the Heat can honor the old contract back.

Fuck what the Heat fans say. What do the haters say? Pour all that hatred on Ray Allen now, will you?

agree 100%. the used each other. lebron got his rings and the heat made a boat load of money as well as being able to put up 2 more banners.

The one fact which I didn't like in all this was the fact that LeBron kept Wade and CB in the dark. Which caused Wade to lose his stable deal.

Re: LeBron James headed back to the Cavaliers

Glad to see James return to Cleveland. Like Andrew, I thought Lebron would stay on with Heat for a little while longer but there were a lot of factors in play. Amazing all the dominos lined up perfectly for the Cavs. For such an unlucky sports city they've had a lot of luck since The Decision.

In the end the World is round again.

Re: LeBron James headed back to the Cavaliers

Sat Jul 12, 2014 10:49 pm

I think there was a big difference in the way this was handled and what he did when he left in 2010.

I live in Cleveland and grew up in Ohio. Every major city we have loses population each year West or South. So LeBron coming back is bigger than sports in many ways.

I have had split allegience with the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers dating back to Reggie Miller/Rik Smits and Mark Price/Brad Daugherty years. I rooted for someone to beat the Pistons then Bulls! So after hating LeBron and rooting against the Heat now I get to watch the greatest basketball player of his generation again. Well I hope I still get my partial ticket plan (signed up before the LeBron news was even a rumble - partial ticket plans have not been released yet - I knew I should have just gotten season tickets.....

This Cavs team will struggle next year. Trading for Kevin Love would be a bad idea IMO. Hamstringing the cap flexibility with 3 max guys does nothing long term and Kevin Love already said he didn't want to play here. I would take my chances with Bennet and Thompson at the 4 and look for help at the 5 which is what they really need with Varejo hurt all the time.

Anyway it was a great week in Cleveland with the rumors building and then it actually happening!

Re: LeBron James headed back to the Cavaliers

Any Love deal would obviously be contingent on him signing an extension, which he seems to be amenable to. The championship is the end goal & you never know how many healthy years of Lebron you will get so might be worth taking the punt & snaring Love.

A lot of pieces to the puzzle need to be filled & Cavs have to infinitely smarter this time than last.

Re: LeBron James headed back to the Cavaliers

Only reason the Cavs will contend is because East is looking historically weak. They need Love, really. It give the Cavs a true second best player. You are coupling the best players in the league with possibly the best powerforward in the league. 3rd and 4th best player on the team matter little less that way.

If a perfect model for a contender is to have top 5 players at 3 positions, the Cavaliers don't fit to this model at all at the moment. Irving is overrated and seriously need to develop his game. And note the CLE don't have any other players that you could say they're top 5 at their respective position. The other way to build a contender is having all above average players top to bottom of the roster to surround LBJ but key players like Waiters, Bennett, Wiggins are likely gonna be under average.

Chasing aggressively after Kevin Love is an obvious smart move. They need it.

The fact that Cleveland has all of these very young guys, many who are top picks... just makes this team scary in the future. There's probably 3 or so years of development playing along side LeBron before they are ready to contend, but damn this is a scary bunch of kids.
Wiggins
Bennet
Irving
Waiters
Thompson

if they can somehow get love without giving up wiggins the cavs have to be the favorites. i expect them to pick up a couple more players like ray to fill the gaps which will make them scary on paper. a lineup of irving, wiggins, james, love, varejao can be deadly. get the right players to come off the bench and they are easily the east favorites if not the league.
