I'd be more critical of the fact that Hodgson took Lampard to Brazil or that he has played Welbeck ahead of Lallana or Barkley.

Rooney is their star player. Whether he plays well or not is down to him. Hodsgon couldn't leave a guy earning 300k a week out of his team for the world cup. Imagine the abuse their fans (and even more so the media) would give him if Rooney hadn't played and they still lost both games.

I'd blame England's failure on the English FA for hiring Hodgson in the first place. He is rubbish.




Costa Rica are top of a group that contains 3 teams ranked in the top 10, who have won 9 world cups between them. Seems they are gunning to be the fairytale story of this tournament.

Argentina looked bad against Iran, lucky for them that Messi goal in injury time saved their ass.
