Melo is staying in NY or going to the Bulls.
End of story.

you act like coming off this bench means you are shit? if he comes off the bench he will be able to play at a higher level in a shorter period of time. less stress on his body and gives the heat a major spark off the bench. at this point wade (and several other players in the league) would be more valuable to the team off the bench.

it wont happen though because of ego

He's well over 30 and has no knees. Try being over 30 years old and get back to me. Your body just ain't the same anymore. Wade's done, especially with those knees problems. He relies too heavily on athleticism and he no more can.

Re: The Big Four in Miami?

I think, if Wade wants to be a player who likes to attack the rim, he needs to become a 6th man, because he doesn't have the knees to play like that for +35 min in a game. But if he becomes a 6th player, that would be a lot easier.

But if he wants still be in the starting line, he has to develop an efficient stacionary jump shoot (or be more like Ray Ray, a quick shooter who shoots well after free himself)

This thing of Melo as a member of a new big 4... I dont know is possible but maybe we are in the scenario of a new way to hire players and build a franchaise. Think about it, imagine that James, Wade and Bosh sign out and then resing for less money, and that cap space is use for more players. At the end that money lost will be recover with all the merchandise (apps, sneakers, products of normal life, etc, etc) because the main goal is Championships.

Well, that's pretty much how the Big Three came together in Miami, so it would hardly be unprecedented.

I didn't say coming off the bench means somebody is shit. Just look at Manu, Allen, Reggie Jackson and Vince Carter. Being a 6th man is just not that appropriate for Wade. He's still an all star and will be/ should be a starter until the end of his career. Plus, we all know Spo only relies on hiss bench when Bronbron and company is struggling. Thats the Spoelstra way.

I guess whats appropriate for him is to stay as a starter and develop/improve his perimeter shooting, meaning less driving and many spot ups (ala Ray Allen/Rashard Lewis style).

True.

As a Miami fan, I would love for this to happen and watch the Heat haters come up with even more unreasonable reasons to hate the Heat.

Miami. "Fan"

Re: The Big Four in Miami?

Since I liked Miami since before LeBron came, doesn't that make me a fan?

I think you're excused. If you were there during that horrific 07-08 season, then you have proved it.

Well I became a fan when they signed Shaq since he's my all time favorite player but yeah I stuck with the Heat after he retired.

I started to like the Heat when Loren Woods helped Dwyane Wade make his first playoff appearance and even reached the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Then Shaq came to the Heat and I was fully on the Heat bandwagon.
Then signs of Wade's body breaking down started to happen and Joel Anthony had to carry the team for some sucky seasons.
Then LeBron took his talents to South Beach that the bandwagon started to be overloaded with new 'diehard Heat fans' that the old bandwagoners like me fell out of the wagon.
I may support the Heat again if their current big two breaks up and if Bosh is not with the team or they trade back for The Greatness.

I also want LeBron to go back to Cleveland so I can use my old sweet animated LeBron sig.

I like how everyone is now trying to prove their Heat-ness in their heart. *sobs* But no surprise our beloved hater KevinParker is so annoyed and concerned by infesting Heat-dom here in our forum.

But I believe even his hate for the Heat can be conquered with right guidance. He hasn't meet the best of us, "IN HEAT", Heat fan since 85 which is 4 years before the team's birth.

Miami doesn't get better by adding Mello... they get worse defensively and there will be even more isolation, just stalling out plays in the halfcourt set.
Better to go with a lineup like this, on the cheaper side too.

C P.Gasol (is available, and would give them a center who can keep the ball moving, score, rebound and defend)
PF C. Bosh (Back at his normal position would stretch the floor now that he's fallen in love with the long ball)
SF L.James (Back playing point forward, he's too good and too strong for anybody else at this position)
SG V.Carter(Better 3 point shooter and passer than Wade, would save Wade a lot of minutes, and LBJ would open up VC's fastbreak game again)
PG K. Lowry(Best available FA PG, and a damn sure upgrade over Chalmers)

6th Man SG D. Wade (super-sub off the bench, if he were willing to take fewer minutes) give Wade 16min, Carter 16 min and Allen 16 min each, but keep Wade as the CLOSER)

C C.Anderson(Energy guy, gotta keep him)
PF R.Lewis(Still has that shot to stretch the floor)
SF T. Ariza (Miami needs a wing defender, you cant sign much better... cuz Deng is too expensive)
SG R. Allen(Keep him in that 3man old man rotation at SG and there will always be a set of fresh legs)
PG N. Cole(has way more potential than Chalmers)

and of course... Haslem is the heart and soul even if he's the last guy coming off the bench.

Drop Beasley, Chalmers, Jones, Douglas and Oden if his health isnt holding up.
Add Gasol, Ariza, Carter, Lawry

thats a team that could win a title again. Benji, want to run the numbers? Can it be done?

Re: The Big Four in Miami?

Wed Jun 18, 2014 11:32 am

Very nice but that's a wishful thinking. Simply it's nearly impossible to accommodate all those players. Lowry is a superstar and deserves handsome amount of money, something close to max which he will seek for, it's his first chance at big contract and he will do so. Meanwhile Gasol, Ariza and Carter, will they be willing to accept something close to minimum?

This is only possible if Wade decides to retire and opt out. Sometimes you just wish you had Proky as owner of the team.

Gasol is really available, if he doesn't want to have a paycut when he stays with the Lakers.

Nevaaaaar. Gasol will stay in LA.I just thought that the idea of that happening with Gasol going there is just meh. Obviosusly, "die hard" Heat fans or in this case Lbj "fans" are not happy about what I said
