Report on Yahoo! NBA.
Mark Jackson came to the Golden State Warriors talking big and brash. He promised playoff appearances and championships trophies, and he delivered plenty of wins along the way.
Away from the court, though, Jackson never backed down from doing things how he wanted. His inability to mesh with management increasingly overshadowed all the wins - and ultimately cost him his job.
The Warriors fired Jackson after three seasons Tuesday, ending the franchise's most successful coaching tenure in the past two decades.
I thought he'd earned the opportunity to keep coaching, having done a great job with the Warriors during his tenure. However, if he was difficult to deal with behind the scenes and rubbed some important people the wrong way, then he's unfortunately brought it upon himself.

Momma, there goes that man
Wed May 07, 2014 12:14 pm
Who do you think will be the next coach then?
Wed May 07, 2014 12:29 pm
There are a few candidates, according to the article.
Lacob and Myers declined to discuss the coaching search, other than to say it would begin immediately. Former NBA player and TNT broadcaster Steve Kerr, former Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg and Connecticut's Kevin Ollie have been among the most talked-about candidates this offseason.
My guess is that if Steve Kerr leaves the booth, it will be to coach under Phil Jackson in New York. I kind of want to see Stan Van Gundy get hired, just to see how Jeff Van Gundy will react to that. JVG has been critical of the Warriors' decision not to give Mark Jackson an extension and I expect that he'll speak out on his behalf on ESPN, but if his brother gets the job, he might have to temper his criticism a little.

Wow. Steve Kerr is certainly a trending topic right now. If I was Kerr, I would first see if Melo stays or not, then make my decision.
I don't know why March Jackson was fired. He was fine and so was his team.
Wed May 07, 2014 1:25 pm
As the article notes, there was friction with management. He's done a fine job, but he's not irreplaceable, so the Warriors' brass obviously weren't about to weather him being difficult.
Wed May 07, 2014 1:36 pm
Oh, so basically his ego got him unemployed?
Wed May 07, 2014 1:44 pm
It seems that way.

I have no real opinion about Marc Jackson but I think he did more or less the ok job with the talent he has.
Speaking of coaches, I think Kerr will make a fine coach, just my hunch. Dwayne Wasey gets to stay, which I think is a very good move by the Raptors. As for the coach whom I actually want to see gone is Kevin McHale. I thought he was the underachiever and not a good fit.

No amount of available coaching greatness/experience/knowledge will get the Rockets a championship with this team.

No one is talking about the true free agent coming out of this
https://twitter.com/diamond83/status/463871501737791490Warriors confirm all of Mark Jackson's assistants have been let go, including Brian Scalabrine.
c'mon Brad, bring, him, back.
Wed May 07, 2014 9:20 pm
Never even knew Brian was an assistant coach. He should've been the coach and not Jackson
Thu May 08, 2014 1:17 am
Damn Q beat me to it.
Mark Jackson deserved to be fired for demoting Brian Scalabrine earlier in the season.

I agree with Kerr being/becoming a quality coach. He's played under Jax & Pop and he's run a team. I think any team who gets him would be lucky to have him.
Not to mention he's been punched by Jordan. That's space-jam power suckage right there.
Sucks for Jackson, it kind of overshadowed the last couple of games.

A lot of Knicks fans around here are crying to have mark jackson as our next coach. I wouldn't be on board with that personally though.
